What would you consider to be your most successful album, purely in terms of sales? Also your least successful?

Hello, Miss Amanda!

Not sure if you want to answer this, but I want to ask so here goes:
The symbolism you referred to in Neil's new (fabulous!) book -- the parts that were about you and made you do the V8 thing on your forehead? Are you willing to share any further info about that? I would love to gain a greater understanding of the book.

Hugs from Canada!

And which of your songs would make the best comic?

Any more work with Ben Folds in the future?

8 in 8 was fantastic.  As was Who Killed . . .

Would love to hear you two play more together.

Hi there,

What did you think of Jon Ronson's recent article about his time spent with you?

Any chance you'll be popping up to the Edinburgh Festival at any point this year for some ninja gigs?

Thanks.

well, we have the tour in australia & new zealand coming up (sept) and then again in november we'll be in europe.
after that...i'm going to take a break and it's honestly anybody's guess. if i were a betting man, there's not way i won't be playing with all of these people again in one format or another. but i'm not planning a big GTO tour after this novemeber shit wraps. i'm going to write.

that's REALLY hard to judge.
the dresden dolls debut has technically sold the greatest # of copies in stores - about 150k, or more - but that was back then before digital went wild. so it's really hard to say how many people have heard, say, the new album if you count streaming and youtube and burning and sharing and all that.

i've stopped trying to keep track.

right?

right.

You seem like the kind of person who could have been in my college German language classes.  In my opinion your awareness and favorable exploitation of "Brechtian" as a cultural thingie is what sets you apart from other singer/songwriters.  Am I overthinking this?

how does it compare performing somewhere huge like red rocks as opposed to the smaller venues you're used to? Do you still feel an intimate connection with the audience in a larger space?

In some of the earlier live recordings of The Bed Song, the bridge had a last line that didn't make it into the album version. When you played The Thing About Things in Denver, I also noticed that you cut some lines out — is it weird/hard to do that, or does it just seem natural when certain lyrics don't work?

i honestly like playing smaller, packed, places. more fun. but red rocks had it's own amazing magic, can't complain.how can you argue with a venue like this?

You said he'd tricked you -- and that's when you became a true Neil fan. (You never saw the V8 commercials when you were a kid when people hit themselves on the forehead with the palm of their hand because they missed the obvious thing. Sort of equivalent to "Oh, Duh.")

If money were not a question at all, what would you do differently? And perhaps more importantly, what would you keep doing exactly the same?

Kickstarter is sort of a decentralized version of the patron of the arts idea, but there is always the question of losing patrons' favor then or now. You talked a little bit about this at the Denver house party, and I am interested in the other side of things - not how you can interact with patrons, but how you can interact with a community with absolutely no requirement that anything ever be "lucrative".

posting a thread on the box (here, in touring) and then tweeting it is usually good. if i see those "anyone looking to meet up pre-show in machester? link" etc, i always re-tweet them.

i don't believe in regrets. i really don't.
i think everything is learning. i learned a TON. it's all information i'll carry along with me for next time.

i think it's the best album i've ever made and putting it out experimentally wasn't a mistake - it was a pick your poison scenario. if i'd put it out with a label i probably would have had an equal and opposite set of agonies.

You are correct. It is 10 at a time. Maybe should could limit each person to 2 questions and then they have to leave the hangout? Definitely an honor system sort of thing, but I think the AFP community could handle it.
