Melissa Auf der Maur

Anyone like her? She has a new project coming out in 2010 called OOOM (Out Of Our Minds), I'm gonna quote her on what it is exactly: it's an "ALBUM-FILM-COMIC-WEB experience" ^-^ Aaaaaand today she released the first song off that album, and you can download it for free! Which you should, because it's pretty great. <3

song here: http://xmadmx.com/

video preview thingy (I tried to get this to embed but I obviously suck at understanding embed codes): http://xmadmx.com/2009/ooom-song-free-here-now/

Enjoy!

I like to look at her...

I like her songs....

I have several live shows I've downloaded, and I've gotta say...  slight stage-presence deficit...

She tries, and certainly the songs are well-played, but her stage-chatter is cringe-inducing.
(Sonds like a really nice person, but...  just...  :-\ )

What's so cringe-inducing about her stage-chatter? I've seen her live, twice, and I don't really remember anything like, remarkable (positive or negative) about it.
I do remember how AWESOME she looks while playing her bass. Total rock star.  :headbang:

Oh, I'd pay money to see her if:
1. She played anywhere near me, and
2. I had any money...

...and since the shows I have are relatively old, it's entirely possible she's polished her presentation.

Another pic, just for good measure...

To be fair to Ms. AdM, I was looking at the notes for those shows where she sounded kinda off...

...and one of them was a mid-afternoon show in a record store, and the other a music hall in Vienna....
I can imagine how either could be odd after playing BIG VENUES with Hole.

Admit it! Hole were great. I have to admit I was more of a fan of the pre Melissa material (Pretty On The Inside & the early demos like Turpentine)

By heavily influcenced by do you mean all but wriiten by?
Just as Celebrity Skin was influenced by Billy Corgan!
If you listen to the material Courtney Love wrote before LTT, like 20 Years In The Dakota, the early incarnations of Doll Parts & Violet they are totally different to the rest of LTT

When i was 17-18 i was mad about playing bass guitar, unfortunately i haven't found time to start learning yet. But she has always been one of the greatest influences of me. Right now i'm listening to daphne descends(from smashing pumkins' adore album),and i think she is the one who proves how successful a woman can be as a bass-guitarist.Also i'm still in love with her solo debut, especially the song called Followed the Waves. The most impressive persons of Smashing Pumkins' was M.A.D.M and their producer Butch Vig(with whom also i'm in love since Garbage was formed).

This is my favourite pic;
