I'm recently obsessed with Etgar Keret, especial the short stories in the nimrod flip out.
strongly recomend him.

Omg! I never met anyone else who digs Etgar Keret before xD The Nimrod Flip-Out is fucking AWESOME.

THIS. Then To The Lighthouse. Then The Waves. Then Between the Acts... etc. Until you get to her diaries/letters/autobiography. Then you win a prize.

I's also recommend Tolstoy's Anna Karenina, Hardy's Tess of the d'Urbervilles and anything by Haruki Murakami (especially Norwegian Wood and Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World).

Argh. I know this will sound really stupid, because it's a classic, but I couldn't stand Tess of the D'Urbervilles. She was so submissive. I understand that in that time, it was the standard, but it just drove me crazy.

Anyway:
Thank you all for the suggestions. I can't wait to start reading them all.  ;)
