Dude. ACROBATS ARE PRACTICAL. You can FLY ANYWHERE. And when the economy fails, people will still buy tickets to see people do insane things. You'd be in a mad shape (like a pretzel).

Aaaaah, you are tapping into my earliest childhood dreams and desires!! I wanted to be a trapeze artist when I was little - fuck, I still do xD I could be an acrobat... It would pwn.

It's my dream too. We could be a duo! The IndieRadberry DREAMTEAM. People would have shirts and everything.

It would be great. I mean, we'd have to somehow get around my completely crippling fear of heights - but I'm sure we could manage!
I have the SAME FEAR. Nets, my love, Nets will save us.

Or we could do low-acrobats.

Like theres pictures of my mom doing weird things with low bars. She is short, but still. I think it's yoga gymnastics. Or Gymga.
Just wear blindfolds...  You can't see how high you are, so you won't be scared.

(I'm not so keen on altitude m'self.....)

cow-tipping lessons.

Who needs lessons? I live in rural Derbyshire, there's really not a lot else to do.

i am also scared by heights... but for some reason, going in an airplane a few weeks ago was fine. i think the height is just too high for my brain to comprehend.

i used to say i was scared of heights, but i think everyone is really, and it's sort of a survival instinct. i mean, i can go up ladders and things, it's just that getting down can be a bit of a problem aha. but i go up anyway and "face my fear" so to speak.

also, natasha, i ADORE flying.

I'm not afraid of heights, but I am afraid of falling. Same thing? Hmm.
I think you're right, Roisin, that it's sort of a survival instinct. I mean, if we weren't afraid to go out on that really high limb, or close to that cliff edge, we'd more likely fall and die. That's not so good for the species.

^ Fear of heights is NOT the same as fear of falling. While I am indeed scared of falling off things, I'm also terrified of standing next to very tall things, and I'm scared of being high up even when there's no way I could fall off, like being inside tall buildings or something.

Actually, I'm just scared of big things. Depths, heights, wide open spaces, the sea, the sky, the dark (everything looks bigger in the dark...) URGH. Hate them.

the sea

The sea scares the crap out of me. Actually, seeing as I'm not a strong swimmer, I'm kind of afraid of any water mass too deep for me to touch the bottom of.

Big things are scary. When I was a teenager I went to see this movie about whales at the omnimax theater at the science center. Oh. My. God. I was terrified by how large the ships were on the ocean, and how huge the whales were. There was a lot of "close your eyes and wait for the music to change" during that one. Sheesh. And mind you this was more than a decade ago, so the whole imax/omnimax thing was really new technology. That made it all the more awe-inspiring.

Eeeeew Imax o.O Terrifying. What's wrong with a normal cinema?! SRSLY! Really the only big things I don't worry about are big men and big beards, something I blame on one parent raising me in a Quaker Meeting House and the other raising me in a rugby club xD

Do you think you would be less afraid if you just imagined everything that's so big it's scary as having a beard?

If you ever have an urge to make music, learn the violin. I know that I sometimes bang out small tunes on our ugly German piano.

^ I play guitar now, and I used to play piano and French horn and before that I played the trumpet, so really I'm looking for something that can stand alone as an instrument, you know? I mean, I can't play guitar well enough to just have that on it's own, though it's OK with like singing or whatever, and to get good enough on the piano for that to be IT sounds like a lot of hard work (and you'd need a piano, I imagine...). French horn really isn't made for solo stuff xD And the trumpet just sounds better with lots of people. Whereas the violin - I mean, you could just take that out and go, right? Especially if you could play all those like folky jigs, then you'd be set xD

That's exactly why I picked up the soprano recorder. I can just grab it and go, and I can play all the old-timey dance tunes (like, from the 1700s) and waltzes either alone or with other people who play other instruments.
