We are working on a fix for the stretched avs and I've been trying to fix the ones I have noticed on an individual basis in the meantime. If your av is stretched please post here and our friendly staff will get you sorted out.

My avatar deleted itself. After spending an hour resizing my pic, trying to get the correct size so it won't come up distorted or pixelated, I have come up short.

I have never had such an awful time getting an avatar to look decent on any board I have been on. Isn't there a way to fix this? and wouldn't that be easier than fixing everyone's avatar for them one by one?

I updated my profile and then it automatically deleted the url for the picture so I had to write it in again = avi is stretched again.

Strangely, mine is stretched after replacing it with a slightly altered one. It's especially strange because my image is mounted on a square transparency in order to avoid the stretch--it's still doing it though. Weird.

Open the picture in a photo editing program on your computer. Add whatever border you need or crop it to make the picture square. Return the modified picture to your hosting site and link as your avatar. Shadowbox just wants everyone to be square.

Yes, thanks for asking. I went to Glasgow, Newcastle, Wolverhampton and London. Glasgow was my favorite in terms of the people I met but in London there was a Banksy stencil right by my hotel so that was a pleasant surprise to come across as I turned the corner. I don't travel nearly enough so any chance to do so makes me grateful.

My only trip to the UK was limited to London and further limited by our status as house guests to a friend. We were only there for a couple of days. I know so many people from the UK. I like them either larger or medium - when they are small, it's hard to see the detail in the artwork (for some of the more detailed photo avatars)

I like the size they are right now, works for me

I can understand if people think it's big, *shrugs, but I like how they can represent art at this size rather than just a picture to associate with a screen name, an image so-to-speak.

I've got a suggestion. Maybe you (as people running shadowbox responsible for technical stuff) could do something that we didn't have to re-upload the avatars each time we change signature/personal info. It's quite annoying (especially with those stretched avatar problems)

Or you can write a script that redirects the image to either blue or darker blue according to the number of the response.

with that resolution I got a scrollbar too. see if you can use another one. I have a 17" screen and 1280x1024 is fairly good - no small letters or whatever.

Depending on the size of your screen, you might prefer another resolution. There are variable aspect ratios, and some will make everything a bit bigger, some will make everything a bit smaller, but as long as they're PROPORTIONATE, your av won't have a scrollbar.
