I think the most interesting thing here is the mention of Amanda's record label, which I hadn't heard of until now. I want to know more.

8ft records was the original release label for the first album and some other stuff......I think my copy of Dresden Dolls is an 8ft copy...cant find it at the moment

I thought it would be something like that. So, why are people stressing about where she's going to go after Roadrunner when she's already laid the groundwork for her own independent label?

By the by, I loved some of the comments in response to that blog post going on about how this concept is somehow discriminatory to "disabled" persons. You can tell none of those people actually have disabilities. Nowadays people with disabilities describe themselves as "differently abled" not "disabled". The response is so patronising it's more discriminatory than the idea ever could have been in the first place.

Lol Len, actually no, I was referring to 8ft records. I did know that she was signed to Roadrunner and all the shit that's going on between her and the label at the moment, but I didn't know that Amanda had a functioning independent label. I may only be a reasonably recent convert, but I do know about everything that's happened since the second Dolls album. What's the story with 8ft anyway? I'm assuming it was just run by Amanda and cohorts before the dolls signed to Roadrunner.

I thought the Evelyn Evelyn project might have something to with Record contract complications. I hope RR play fair on this one and let it go… 

As for offensive:

There are some interesting ideas within the disability movement about how disability is defined and what can be thought of as constituting obstacles towards those with atypical psychical/mental predicaments. Maybe that’s one for the “grey matters” section but my conclusion about Evelyn Evelyn is that the act shouldn’t create or exacerbate any (existing) problems.

Then there is the old “what’s fair game in comedy/art/entertainment” question. If you can’t make jokes/art/entertainment for fear of upsetting people then you’ll forever have an elephant in the room.  Another way of looking at it: Would conjoined twin entertainers ignore their predicament or would they joke about it to lighten the mood? If they chose to joke about it, could they avoid bringing stereotypes into it? Probably not. we except fictionalisation and exaggeration as a part of entertainment and as part of the heuristics of life.

Not everyone who is "traditionally" disabled, has caught onto the
"differently abled" idea.

Not clear to me how many of these bloggers are 'challenged' by
physical or mental differences.

This blog is also self-labeled as "feminist",
and there are community of
people who label themselves that way,
who have lot's of unusual perspectives.

i never even thought of evelyn evelyn as DISABLED. 

same... I don't get how people can be offended by this. It's not like they're saying "We're disabled hahaha!"

Also, I like the latest comment on that blog: "It’s our blog. We’ll focus on what we consider important." How mature.

I've heard about Evelyn Evelyn for quite a while.  I thought it was a lark, but wasn't sure, until I went to the Myspace where it was immediately obvious it was Amanda and Jason.  I agree with the poster who stated that there's nothing wrong with a bit of fun and silliness.  While I can see where the above blogger who is offended by it is coming from, and respect her opinion, it is not one that I share.  The only problem I have with this whole thing is this:  Not everyone who buys tickets to see Evelyn Evelyn will be in on the "inside joke", as someone put it.  Some will truly believe they are going to see real-life conjoined twins.  Will these people have a right to feel disappointed and/or ripped off when they discover the truth?
