also Stephen Hunt's Court of the Air
I have my friend's copy of Perdido Street Station sitting on top of my fridge right now.  It is AWESOME.  Though I should really get it back to her; it's signed...

Anyway, you're just walking around with these teeth in your vagina and you think it's normal cos like, who do you ask about that shit? Then, one day you go to have sex with someone & they're all "WHY DOES YOUR VAGINA HAVE A TOOTH IN IT?" That'd be damn awkward.

A book I'd like to read in the steampunk genre is "Boneshaker".
The Dinotopia books sort of fall into the world of steampunk.

And musically, there's Walter Sickert and the Army of Broken Toys http://armyoftoys.bandcamp.com/
They have a radio play up on their bandcamp now that I haven't listened to, and you can also find their music on youtube etc. I recommend the song "Friend in Goddamn" and their cover of the Ghost Busters theme. "No Room" is also quite good.

I like the idea of dressing up. Mostly because I like to play dressup.

Last week, a big brazilian newspaper (Folhas de São Paulo) published an small article about steampunk "young folks that dress funny victorian clothes and do silly "i wish I lived in the 19th century" stuff". no mention that steampunk is a literature sub-genre. however, 11 years ago they did publish something about steampunk - it was on a column that is no longer published (I read on their online archive.  Go figure why they did not say it is also a literature genre.

I assembled this team for purposes of a League of Extraordinary Gentlemen thing, but in reading this thread it occurs to me they're all highly bangable. Yeah, even Spider Jerusalem.

No, not "District 9", and not the singin' & dancin' film also called "9".....

This one, kinda Steampunk-post-apocalypse:

it actually started out as a digital short that Burton really liked and helped make into a full length movie.

^  I saw that.  It's on YouTube, but it isn't as overtly steampunk as the feature film.

9 was awesome, i have the dvd.  i think it's one of the pirated ones from korea my stepson sent home though.

the first steampunk tattoo i ever did was started at least a year and a half ago.  my roommate asked me to draw him a steampunk heart tear-out.  originally it was supposed to have a clockwork demon on top of it but he decided he liked the drawing i did so much he wanted the heart the exact size i drew it.  it doesn't photograph well but in the flesh so to speak, it looks pretty good, i think.  he likes it, anyway.  i think it should have been stuffed with gears, but there is only so much outline he can take there; he is not a well-padded fellow.

i didn't do that dragon under it, by the way.  but i did do the american mcgee's alice tattoo you can kinda see on his arm.  he's also the guy with harley quinn.  dude comes up with some awesome tattoos.  he's the one i first heard the word 'steampunk' and tha name 'datamancer' from.
