we all use the term pretty loosely around here. so i'm wondering, has anyone got any good stories? what sets you apart from the rest of us in your obsession?
who knows, maybe we'll have a poll and determine the winner. please note that this topic is not a home for, "i would give my left nut to meet brian viglione" statements, but for, "i now only have my right testicle because brian has the left" stories.

Starving yourself of music is not right. Just because you listen to them constantly doesn't mean you need to fast. Just play in moderation.

I'm not obsessed in a stalkery way. I'm obsessed with the music. The brilliance, the drum styles, the piano notes... I like to examine. I hadn't really had "Dolls Music Hour" in a while, so today on the bus home I relistened to Yes, Virginia. It was a nice ride.

Do I promote the band? Yes. Do I shave my brows? No. Do I make posters in Silkscreen of them? Yes. Do I need to stop asking questions? Yes.

I'm so overtired.

I was nevr "obsessed" but I had always imagined meeting Amanda/Brian since i'm from Boston.

Well...i met amanda last night, and....seriously....get over it.... she's just an adorable cutie. who happens to be really good at hugging.

Celebrity worship never appealed to me, though... maybe I'm a special case.

I'd have to say that my interest in the Dresden Dolls was never disturbing or unreasonable.
It's nice to have met both Amanda and Brian, and their music and everything surrounding their band keeps me out of trouble and gives me something to do.
Their band has inspired me to make beautiful works of art and has opened me to a lot of new places, people and ideas. I can't say that I'm obsessed, just highly interested in them and what they do and my art reflects that.

I'd like to note I'm not obsessed with Amanda OR Brian. Just the music. And for me, obsessed is loving a band. I didn't carve their lyrics into my skin or any crazy shiz like that. I just made art.

I was hella obsessed but thats because I have a very obsessive behavior. I get attached to things easily. But I slowly unattach myself. now, I don't listen to them as much as I did before (where I would ONLY play the dolls on my ipod and nothing else and would ONLY listen to them when I took a shower). and would constantly talk about them. now, I just like them a lot instead of like "zomfg rofl copter I love them that I'm going to make a million threads and songs and poems on how much I fucking love them because they are so beautiful".

i'm gonna guess it was an obessive compulsive thing, as he says he's very obesessive. am i right???

I do tend to be obsessive about my music. I find something I like, and I'll listen to it over and over until I find the next thing I like, and do the same. It's not that I don't go BACK to the first (or second, or third) thing, but I usually have one thing that I'm focused in on.
As far as being obsessed with people..I don't know that I would use that word. Fascinated perhaps, but "obsessed" has all kinds of scary connotations. I dig Amanda and Brian muchly, but I wont be camping on any doorsteps anytime soon... my husband did call me stalker for a little while when I first started listening to them though, lol. ... oo... God, I hope that the mini-Amandas don't constitute obsessive behavior... Oh well. All done out of love and admiration.
All I can think of right now is that pre-teen with Sangia on American Idol... thanks a lot! Now I'm going to have nightmares.

I'm currently going through most of my Cure collection (pretty much everything, except covers that other bands have done of their material). It's been a tour de force. I've just gotten into the early '90s material, though I plan on going back to the late '70s and '80s vinyls at some point.

I haven't been obsessed about another musician or his/her/their music since I got my 1st guitar...and I can't recall being obsessed about any musician or music before then, either.

no no no, what I meant was that, they were the only CD I would play when I took a shower, I ignored brandnew and the rest (there's too many so I'll save you the reading time) and only played the dolls CD in my boom box. and that CD stayed in thurr for like 6 or 7 months. then I changed it to something else.
