So my school does this thing every year called "The Acoustic Cafe", which is basically they let a bunch of poets and acoustic artists take over the little theater for a whole night of performances. My audition was Friday, and I was originally supposed to do this with a close friend of mine that plays guitar, but has since then dropped from the project (for reasons she has yet to tell me). So, that leaves me with my piano, my voice, and a ukulele on the way.
My problem now is figuring out a set list. Most people are doing two or three songs, and I'd like to follow suit. So far, I've saved the chords for "Giving Up" by Ingrid Michaelson onto my computer, and am planning to do a rendition of it on my uke when it arrives. Now, my main issue is having trouble reading sheet music (mainly because I only recently learned how to read bass clef, and I'm struggling big time). In a nutshell, I need fairly self-explanatory songs that I can figure out in the next three weeks, and that are "school appropriate" :eyeroll: . So far, that's been my only issue. I was going to (maybe) do "Us" by Regina Spektor, but it mentions nooses, so that's a bit out of the question. I might do "Speechless" by Lady Gaga, but I'm not sure.
So far
Definite:
Giving Up - Ingrid Michaelson (uke)
Maybe:
Speechless - Lady Gaga (piano)
Samson - Regina Spektor (piano)
Astronaut - Amanda Palmer (piano)
Strength in Music - Amanda Palmer (piano)
Lucky Penny - Regina Spektor (piano. PLEASE PM THE CHORDS IF YOU HAVE)
And please don't be afraid to mention an artist I don't know. I'm always willing to get into new bands/artists, and that is the least of my issues right now. Suggest away! <3
Much help is forever appreciated. <3
