yeah sorry, but if you're doing it for money and you don't care about you're fans, not only are you doing it the wrong way, but it will be much harder to get where you want.

don't get me wrong, you're art is fantastic! just try to think about it a bit differently and you'll get even further.

I never ask for money unless the ppl I'm doing work for want to provide the materials.
But that's as far as getting shit goes.

money is definitely not a consideration when doing work and I have actively turned down offers of payment for things in the past.....fame is also not a goal I have ever considered..... it is all about the act of creating the art and getting other people to experience my art.....
on a more personal note...there is nothing wrong with trying to sell your work, but perhaps you really should show more finished pieces on your website...the sketches are nice but they really are just rough sketches....sorry.
If you want to get famous for your art you are going to have to be damned good so keep going and keep practicing!

You're also going to have to be interesting. I personally never want to give my money to someone I don't want to go to the pub with. I'm with Raliel though, you're gonna have to be incredible to make money from art - it's a rotten fucking job, I'm so glad I can't draw anything but blasphemous owls and therefore couldn't entertain even the vaguest dream of it xD

Some people like owls. Like my mom. 

She has two drawings of owls in the computer room, and at least three or four pictures of owls in the hallway.


I see art as I see theater - if you enjoy it and love it, then it's worth pursuing. If you're in it for the money, then you're in the wrong business. It can be fruitful, but it takes a lot of work and a lot of patience. Not to mention a lot of practice, too.

I think persuing art for money - and by "art", here I mean like all artistic endeavour whether it's painting/drawing, film-making, theatre, fashion or music or whatever - then the art will suffer. The best works of art come from the pure drive that comes with needing to create, not wanting to.

I mean, this woman loves owls like no one else I've ever encountered before in my life. 


But yeah, I agree. There has to be some need or desire to create. Passion, that's what it's all about. ^_^

It's- Um... It's a whole thing....... xD I dunno when it started, but I ended up drawing two things over and over in my French classes - either a baby seal and a butterfly who lived together getting up to all sort of shennanigans, or this sacred owl. Sometimes there are little French monks praying to it in cod Latin xD The reason it's those animals is that they're the best words in French ever except for "gay", "bin" and "umbrella", but beyond that I really don't know...
