This show is going to be a bit different than the rest of the tour - they're preview shows that will have a Q&A at the end and ask for feedback and such before the worldwide Evelyn Evelyn tour with AFP, Jason Webley and Sxip Shirey kicks off in the UK.

I'm really excited for this, it's going to be fun and it'll be a unique opportunity with the Q&A/feedback portion. Plus it's a tiny theater part of the A.R.T. where the Onion Cellar was.

Though it's in the same building and set of rooms,
Club Oberon is a quite different set than the Oinon Cellar was.
Even the lobby has been redone.

Still awesome!

I'll be there with my stepdaughter, who we are taking out of school to go. We went to see Amanda in Burlington Vt, and I would be remiss in my parental duties if I did not let her go to this show as well.

I am so proud that she loves Amanda Palmer so much! The only thing I hate is driving to Boston! After living in the boonies of Vermont, big cities scare me, the crowds, traffic, etc. But it will be worth it.

My boyfriend is going as well, and while he doesn't care for AFP or Jason Webley, he is a big supporter of his family. He wants to wear a shirt that says, "I don't like Amanda Palmer but my girlfriend does." I don't know if he will or not. I don't think AFP would be offended in the least. We met her at the Burlington show and he told her while he doesn't care for her music, he admires her and what she stands for. She seemed ok with that. Anyway, I will see you on the 13th!

It's a sitdown show, I imagine it'll be hard to take photos, anyway. Photos aren't encouraged, but you can bring your camera, it won't get taken away.

The sisters are far too shy to do signings, but I wouldn't be surprised if Jason, Amanda or Sxip stick around to sign after the show. They're all playing with Evelyn Evelyn

They are not taking an orchestra with them on tour, and these shows are a preview of the touring shows so unfortunately nope, there won't be an orchestra. But trust me, the girls put on an excellent show on their own (I saw them last January at their secret show NYC), prepare to be blown away

I have a completely non-show related question to people who live in the area. Oberon suggests parking passes for Charles Square Garage and the University Place Garage, and Harvard University. Is this necessary? Where is the best place? Is there a good hotel near the Oberon?

yeah it appeared that there was standing room closest to the stage and cabaret style seating behind that . . . that's why I bought standing room, it was cheaper and looked closer to the stage according to the seating chart if I remember correctly.

I called to ask back when I bought tickets to see which tickets were closer to the stage. I wanted to know because we bought VIP tickets for Port City Music when she played in Maine and never ended up using them because I thought they were in a crappy section of the club and not close to the stage.
When I called Oberon (or maybe it was just the agency that sells tickets for them) they said the more
expensive tickets ( not sure if that means they are seated or standing ) were closer to the stage. Mondays more expensive seats were already sold out, so we have tickets for one of the nights one way and one the other. So I guess we'll get to experience both. Seems like that place is so small that everyone will have a great spot.

club oberon is a fairly small venue. roughly square.
about 80-100' to a side (but i haven't paced it or
taken a tape measure to it)

clean sight lines. the stage is high enough,
even if a tall pesron is in front of you.
no columns in the way.
bar at the back.

no bad seats, unless you absolutely
have to see the twin's pores ; - }

the club oberon web sight, as well as amrep.org
has parking suggestions.
though if your lodging is near the subway, or a bus
that goes to harvard square - use public transit,
cheaper and less stressful

My husband swore we wouldn't leave for his brother's wedding before Tuesday or Wednesday, but the vagaries of the frequent flier mile redemption process has us flying out of Logan at the butt crack of dawn on Monday after all.

Heads up people -
a FEW tickets MAY be available at the door day of show if all the advance tickets sell out. So if you haven't gotten a ticket yet and can't get it online I'd recommend a) taking Shakti's tickets off her hands

b) arriving early day of show and go to the box office and inquire if any tickets are available

went to hear sleep no more's annie darcy band tonight @ club oberon
($5.00 ticket and three very fine hours of music - they may make this a monthly gig @ oberon.
amanda sang with them twice in the Mandalay bar @ sleep no more and had a blast)

* the box office gal said that for non-A.R.T. events (which these two shows are)
doors is the time on the ticket.
you can get there early though, to exchange your e-tickets for entry tickets,
and get in line

* i paced the room, it's a bit larger than a 100 feet on a side

* i expect the $ 40.00 tics will be up on the raised platform to the left as you faced the stage,
and the $25.00 tics on the floor. we'll see if the floor is seats or standing.

Some unavoidable circumstances have come up and I can't use my 2 tickets to EvelynEvelyn et. al. tonight (4/12), and I wanted to make sure they go to a good home. They are GA/Standing Room tix, total face-value cost for the 2 tix plus fees was $57, so that's all I'm asking. I bought them via E-ticket, which just instructs me to print out the e-mail I received and use it for entry. I'm assuming I can print it out and give it to whoever wants the tix, but I haven't used this method of ticketing for the Oberon in the past. If it's any more complicated than that, hopefully someone can fill me in on the procedure. PM me if you'd like them.

the opening night of the E/E tour in cambridge

jason's, amanda's, and sxip's opening sets were all short.
about 4 songs each.
i'm not good @ setlists,
but i'm sure, others will put them up

the twins were beyond brilliant,
and had about half of the play time.
with Sxip's help they did a very unique Q+A ...

the twins survived the evening quite well,
though Sxip had considerable wear and tear

if you have had any doubt about going to see this tour,

I almost streamed some of the show live last night but I figured I'd see what the response was before I did it, didn't want Amanda and the crew getting mad :-) would not have streamed anything from EE since I think that's something that you have to experience in person to get the full effect.

I love the second in particular--Amanda always makes such incredible faces.

I was told by someone at the venue that only press photographers (with wristbands) would be allowed to take pictures--so I put my camera away. By the end of the night, I realized that there were probably half a dozen people around me taking pictures (and, like me, they all had SLRs). Grr!

I only took two pictures of the twins, and didn't know about posting them. I feel like this show is so much about experience of seeing them for the first time that I didn't want to spoil it for people by shooting video/pictures of the twins. I didn't know what to expect and loved that revelation when they took the stage.

I was at the April 12th show and it was AWESOME. Brought my sister with me and my boyfriend. He and I came down from VT to see the show, and it was totally worth it. Sxip was especially worth mentioning, as he was insane live. Both my sister and bf who have never really listened to much of Jason, Amanda or Sxip's music loved the show. It was all really cool and the Oberon was a nice little venue. Think I might be checking out other events there in the future.

Plus, the first rock concert I ever went to was an AFP concert in 2005. She played a show in Johnson, VT and my sister came to that show with me, too.

It was supposed to be a Dolls show, but Brian was sick so Amanda had to do a solo show and it was wonderful. But I didn't get to take any pics at that show so I was kind of bummed, my camera was broken. But this time around I got tons of pics and video. And I got pics with AFP, Jason and Sxip. My life is now complete.

And I'm going to be going to the show at the House of Blues June 19th. Can't wait!
