any - and I mean any - variation on the whole ankle-cuff shoe/sandal thing:

Seriously, ladies - what the fuck?!! I saw loads of women sporting some form of these monstrosities at this past weekend's Movement 2010 festival, and they all looked completely fucking retarded in them.

don't let that happen to you! avoid at all costs!

i wouldn't necessarily call this fashion, seeing as most of the people who wear shit like this aren't very fashionable, but i could puke every time i see one of these on top of a middle-aged lady's front-butt.

I saw some of these at work last weekend and thought the same thing. There is no point. It's like the shoe version of wearing a miniskirt and UGG boots...

Cee, I would rather cut off my own feet than wear high-heeled construction boots.  And those high-heeled Chucks are just. . .  they look so weird, to me.  I know fashion is a matter of opinion, but...

MANY years ago, I saw a bright red, crushed-velvet, Chuck Taylor high-top built
on a full-platform sole about 4" high....  (There was only the one shoe...  long story.)

If it was platform, maybe, but not stiletto or even plain-old high-heeled.

That sounds like a couch or a love seat, Cee.  Or a visit to the discotheque.

It wasn't that long ago, about 1997; disco was already well and truly dead...  although, the
reason there was only one shoe is that the company I worked for had a policy against throwing
anything away, regardless of how un-sellable it might be...  Apparently someone had shoplifted
the "display" shoe, leaving only that one in the box, and we had to count it for inventory.

So there's no telling how long it had been there...  It would probably still be there, but A&N went
out of business a year or two ago.

I'd like to see the shoplifter...walking about with ONE platform shoe...

Well, maybe they had something wrong and one leg was 4" shorter than the other...how do we know???

Ugg boots. And Crocs. URGH.

Also, people who think leggings or jeggings or whatever are a suitable replacement for trousers. They're not. Wear a long t-shirt at least.

Ugg boots are the worst things in the world.  "Ugg" stands for "ugly," I think.

But, YES.  Above statement.  WTF?  Half the time, I can't tell if what they're wearing up top is actually a shirt or a dress that they grew out of when they hit puberty.

Uggs aren't that bad. They're not attractive, but according to most people, they're very comfortable. My mom got a pair for Christmas, and she wore them EVERYWHERE, because they were "like wearing slippers".

But I agree about the jeggings bit. They're just so weird to me, and it's so awkward.

And don't even get me started about these new "denim diapers". They're just about as pointless as a stack of soggy pancakes.

See, I am wearing a pair of jeggings right now, because they are SO absurd that they amuse me endlessly - they have no pockets, but they have printed on ones. They also have printed seams and printed signs of wear and tear. Love love love. But I'm wearing them with a man's shirt, which amply covers my bot-bot. In no way, shape or form should people be allowed to have their bums and crotches exposed when they're wearing legging-type things. They're more tights than trousers.

I agree. It bothers me to not end. It's like, people need to just wear one of those shirt-dresses or something at least.

There are honestly girls at my school who wear TIGHTS (not even leggings) with no skirt, just a partially unbuttoned shirt and Uggs. Then they put on their tie and pretend it's uniform. It actually looks like they haven't got dressed. You would think that by 17/18 they would have learned something about not looking like an idiot.

B-B-But tight are usually see through!  :o

Also: I can't say I'm a fan of coon tails, or hair teasing.
(though the scene hair cut is very manageable)

Still. If I wore just tights (if my mom would ever let me get away with it without being killed by her in the process), I would feel so naked.

omg yeah i totally saw the tights + tee thing and it's...ew. and really, unless you're anorexic, it will just look madly unflattering!
same for leggins + tee.
i'm not sure if i do own a pair of jeggins though. are jeggins made of real jeans?
i own a pair of pull-on jeans (from hot topic http://hottopic.co.uk/p/293894/Tripp+Blue+Pull-On+Jeans+-+Long ) and i love them to fucking death. i do wear a long-ish tee or shrit with it though, but that's ust cause of my huge butt lol

This is silly. The whole thing is silly. Who the hell would buy this?

And aren't all diapers limited edition? I mean, they're on for an hour and then they get thrown away and replaced.

It said somewhere about people who wear leggings as trousers and then just wear a tshirt or something. Here, it seems people forget the leggings. Usually it will be a longish top, but it doesn't come close to covering what needs to be covered.

Uggs and all furry boots are AWFUL, but especially in my city where yesterday it was 106 degrees Fahrenheit, and THESE DUMB WEATHER CONFUSED BIMBOS were still wearing tiny little dresses and furry fucking boots. WHAT THE FUCK?! Did they ever think that maybe, just maybe, their vaginas would want the coverage that the lower half of their legs got?

Ugg boots with a miniskirt, fashion for 2004, out of fashion early 2005, and people still wear it  :o

oh. i caught a glimpse of her latest video, and it's rather pathetic. i mean, she DID some good stuff in the past (beautiful!) and i think it's really sad that she has to copy gaga to try and be successful again.

actually, i was at my granny's when xtina's video came on tv and she was CONVINCED she was gaga, it took me a long time to convince her it wasn't lol

I really hate it when girls wear shorts so short that their butt is less than an inch from coming out.
And I'm all for women of any size wearing things that they like, but it goes a little far when you look like this:

You know those outfits that look like a top and skirt but really it's one piece of fabric intricately sewn to make it look like a top and a skirt? I see groups of girls wearing this exact same outfit, do they ever wonder that perhaps it looks a little silly to be wearing the same outfit as the lady beside you? I admit it's an interesting concept, and I think it would be so much better if ONE girl wore it and not 24758903457839456 of the other girls she's with did.

On a semi related note, big people who wear tights as pants. Well actually people who wear tights as pants in general.

Gah, I know what you're talking about.
Chicks at my school wear that stuff all the time.
And they all seem to wear them on the same day.
So it's basically the same outfit with a wee bit of variation.

I saw SOO many of these when school started in September. I was shocked that I didn't see two that were the same, though.

I wanted to walk up to each and every one and ask if theirs was designed by Miley Cyrus, but then I realized that I don't care about them...

Ooo, ooo, H, my grandparents are going to be visiting Glossop pretty soon so if there's any interesting places you could recommend, recommend them!

For an early evening pint and maybe a little something to eat, the Globe on the High Street is very lovely - very cheap as well. If it's a bit nippy out they might want to make sure they're cosy enough though, the owners are eco-freaks that don't put the heating on.

What kind of grandparents are they though?? I mean, if they like walking they could easily get a bus over to Hayfield - the 64 or the 61 ;) - because there's some fucking lovely walks around there. Or they could.... go to the park? There's really not a lot actually IN Glossop to do. The Globe is a lovely pub, my dad likes the Star but I'm not sure how it is for older people, don't let them go in the Moon & Sixpence because they'll get stabbed.

I don't know if it his body position but since that garment evokes such a extreme hour glass going down to a point almost it takes away all the curves she has.

When I still worked at Best Buy this lady came in, wearing fur boots. They were DISGUSTING. I mean, I'm not morally opposed to fur, but they were just plain unattractive - they were like clunky fur sleeves for her calves!

I wasn't sure if my then-vegan friend Liz would have been more insulted by the lady's use of fur or by the lady's God-awful fashion sense.

Thongs.

Now if you are going to wear a thong, wear clothing that will cover your butt so the whole world doesn't have to see it!

I assume it has a wire or  oulded inset to the spiral so it grips your leg...... if it were made out of something other than nasty moulded rubber this might actually be quite interesting as footwear (the principle could be applied to something a tad more classy)

^Stripper heels, from a website named something to that effect. The ones below are classier.

??

I've wanted Cristina's shoes for years now.

Okay, these are 'do's for me, but mebbes not for everyone.
Also, if you google 'spiral shoes/heels' you get some awesome shoes :D

I would much prefer something like this, as opposed to something that looks like it was made from the skin of an ACTUAL purple dinosaur.

shoes designed to kill the wearer:

I am screaming at my screen. Right now.

1) How does this one stay on ? Is the terry cloth supposed to keep it there?
2) This shoe looks like a sex toy. A sex toy that makes you walk en pointe.
3) You cannot walk in that. Plus, you'd look like an S&M elf.
4) I liked it for a second until I couldn't figure out how it would stay on your foot.
5) No.
6) How do you wear that? When one side wears down, do you switch to the other?

My brain is going to explode.

Though I hate it when guys keep on their socks in bed. I don't care if your feet are cold it's not sexy and you should be focussing on other sensations!

But that's just me. On girls, it's different I'm sure...

This is true. I've just never thought of my socks as a part of fashion...apart from when I was at school during PE and had to wear shorts but was terribly shy about showing my legs so I wore thy high socks that now I think about it were ridiculous. Ah, insecure school days.

I already am crippled for life. I think they would be perfect for me to sit around and not walk in. I may have to buy them.

I can walk but I  have a limp, the Dr said it would be at least a year before they could tell if I did any permanent damage and it still hurts like a motherfucker. So I suppose I am not so much crippled now as I am kinda gimpy. Still really want those shoes though, the only ones I can wear now are my Docs or my Converse.

I recently found this guy on facebook whom happens to be the creator, or co-creator, or something like that, of the Spirit Hoods.

And I think that's guy who I found on facebook. I don't even know how I got onto his page. I really don't. We have no friends in common, no groups in common, nothing. So how I landed on his page is a complete mystery.

I won't wear those pointy-toed shoes. First, I don't like them, but I wear a 9, and I think that's already a plenty big footprint...

If you are a plus sized woman, whatever you do, you must wear clothing and bras that fight. You want to be comfortable and sexy at the same time.

Trust me. I'm big and beautiful myself.

a girl me and the hubz used to know was a larger girl and used to wear literally EVERYTHING she owned at least 2 sizes to small....why? why would you do that? wouldnt you rather get the bigger size and look fine/normal/good instead of like you need the jaws of life to get into your clothes? i dont understand...my roommate at the time was about the same size as this other girl and wore clothes that fit and looked great! sometimes i just want to yell at those people....granted i hate it when anyone of any size wears clothes that are to small, i only wear clothes that are too small around the house for cleaning/gardening and for pjs

@clothes and fat people - Really fat minger gave me the ol' look-up-and-down-in-disgust while I was out shopping today. I'd already been in three shops and unable to find a pair of trousers that fit, and was feeling very emotional, and it really didn't help. Then I bit my cheek, and promptly burst into tears in the middle of the street. Seamy sat me down for a bit and gave me a cuddle, then bought me a Big Mac. Felt much better xD

someone needs to explain that when a blouse literally cannot contain the various layers of woman, it is too small.  perhaps a tee shirt might be of more use to them.

also, when one has 'front butt,' a midriff blouse is probably inappropriate.

Just to clarify, England is not awash with people wearing ridiculous hats.  In the majority of England, that hat WOULD look over the top.  That hat would probably have even looked odd at the royal wedding.

Thank you for mentioning that xD

Perhaps, I have the wrong impression, but I thought
they were worn for special occasions by many people.

No offense intended.

Hats are generally worn for fancy occasions like the Grand National, or weddings. But not quite so ostentatious.

If Björk wore it, i'd probably say "okay, it's not the poshest dress, but at least she looks cute". Some people just can't look good in an odd dress, and this is one of them.

Very true. It looks like her toes barely fit. No bueno.

i dunno.  this dress would be cool if she could jump out of a tall building and float gently to the ground.  the shoes could act as blinking lights to keep planes from not seeing her.

I saw it a bunch, too. I think it was a combination of girls just discovering sex and flaunting it in addition to Brit's influence. And yes, I did find it was more cultural than anything else.

There is a "cowboy" bar in this general area that I've been to (against my will, though) that features a dance for the regulars that includes boys unbuttoning pants and gyrating on the girls while they lower their jeans to show off their, um, "whale tails" as the site calls them. they also serve as tactical.  aside from the element of surprise, tie a thong to the back end of it and you can easily take down an opponent with it.  or it might serve as a boomerang of sorts, for hunting.

I can't find the fashion don'ts thread so I'm posting this as a Fashion MUST NOT DO

Jeans or chino's or any form of pants with cinched elastic ankles

Ugh what is wrong with people, and they're so popular among teenage boys here.

On the search page
http://www.theshadowbox.net/forum/index.php?action=search
(click SEARCH next to HOME  HELP at the top of most sbox pages
(works better than the search text box at the top of most sbox pages)),
I entered "fashion" in the Search for: text box.
Clicked Search in topic subjects only.
Click the Search button at the bottom.

Voila, there was a ink to fashion don't.

Go try it out?

I did this, but with fashion don'ts rather than just fashion. Perhaps that was my mistake. I'll try have more faith in the future, but also hope I don't have to post more fashion don'ts. If only the worlds would learn...

i tend to keep my searches simple,
and avoid punctuation.
i tend to find other neat threads that way,
and it just works better for me.
(I also know the different ways search is
program on computers,
which influence my search habits)
