indeed but was tallking purely from the dietary standpoint......an ethical vegan does not use any animal products in any part of their lifestyle....(question...how do vegans stand on wool and silk?)

They don't use them. Vegans don't eat honey or use products that contain beeswax either (lots of people don't realise). Anything animal made is out.

Trick question: No matter how they're prepared, and how hungry you may be, tarantulas are NOT food

So instead they eat foodstuffs that those animal need to live, which means vegans are fine depriving animals of their food, just not fine participating in being cruel to them? The majority of vegans I have met in my travels seem to be ill-informed of just how impossible it is to extricate themselves from the circle of animal-based food.

what about chalk? what about coal? what about pete? chalk is basically the fossil bones of a billion dead things..oil and coal are largely plant but contain plenty of animal traces..pete is the same.....Nylon is right out as most synthetic plastics are made from oil which, again is the mulch of a billion dead things... (also pretty sure i have met many vegans that wear wool...maybe its a european vegan thing)

I'll give vegans credit just for trying their best. I would be surprised if many Vegans were actually responsible for the creation (breeding) of these animals that might go on to be deprived of food - how much mess made by other people should they have to shoulder blame for?

As much as anybody else, because, whether they like it or not, they ARE still involved. The only way they could truly remove themselves from the animal food circle is by growing their own food and textiles.

uuuuum no vegans choose not to eat ANY animal products...(gets complex when it comes to yeast and mushrooms...) but they are perfectly capable to eat whatever....

Well it goes a bit further than that....no products of any type which include parts of or were tested on animals.

PETA censures Iams pet food company because they test on animals......and they are a pet food company.

of course, PETA also feels your dog and cat should also be fed vegetarian food, made without meat.  this of course will eventually give your cat diabetes and kill it, since cats are carnivores.

Everyone is implicated in the chain of cause and effect but certain circles are more vicious than others.

The model would have won more if she had actually shoved the protestor out of the way instead of merely walking around.

i know, but it looks funny.  i dont even think the model got the protester off her feet, i think security grabbed the feet and took her down.  but i got a kick out of the model shove.

What I am saying is, if you're vegan, then gratz. You're vegan. It doesn't make you morally or ethically superior to meat-eaters.

Very few people are serious in their efforts to work out ethical considerations - I’ll say that much.

There are types of vegetarian/vegan arguments that are based on considerations that I don’t much care for (like prohibiting abortion because they think that a bunch of cells are morally equivalent to existing sentient life).
