I have a vegan question.
Vegans are opposed to eating anything that comes from an animal (Or so I'm aware) but what about things like a tetanus shot?
Seeing as the antibodies you get from a tetanus shot come from a horse does this go against veganismness?
It's still a product of the animal like milk would be.
Just a thought...
I'm pretty sure animal-derived vaccines are considered non-vegan, since they do involve
exploiting animals for human gain - I kinda wonder how a vegan feels when he gets bitten
by a snake, and the only thing that'll save his life is antivenin derived from a horse...

Meh, not my problem.

I actually tried using my veganism as the reason why I couldnt get the H1N1 shot my school was pressing for everyone to get... my parents wouldnt budge. i honestly just try to stay away from any type of needle/shot; ive never looked into how vegan approved they are.

then again, im not even strictly vegan. i consider myself somewhere inbetween vegetarianism and veganism cause i dont have the time to make my own bread and crap. i just find whatever has the least amount of animal derived products.

I had lunch today at a tiny little organic, vegetarian restaurant in Christiania, the hippie commune in Copenhagen, and it was SO YUMMY! <3

I've been a vegetarian for over a month now and my Mom and Grandma are still trying to force me to change my diet for Thanksgiving. Eep.

Good for you! People are so fixated on the turkey, you would think that they had hunted, killed it and slaughtered it themselves. Hope you can avoid eating it, but if you can't, don't feel that you've fallen off the wagon. Being a vegetarian 364 days a year is great. A diet with LESS meat is very good too.

I'm making Tofurkey for my family today. Happy Thanksgiving!

I did it.......a fully vegetarian meal  :'(

Fresh baked baguette with some garlic I just roasted.

Apple, walnut, and Gorgonzola salad with a raspberry vinaigrette (sadly not homemade, I know cheating but only so much time.)

And a mushroom and spinach risotto.

Oh can't forget the ice wine for dessert  O0

I actually think that thanksgiving style turkey is the worst tasting meat there is by far.  If all meat tasted like that I'd be a veggie too.

I love meat but also love some "meat substitutes" like the veggie burgers at burger king...  I actually love a lot of vegetarian food.

Same here, for awhile my burger of choice was a bacon veggie cheeseburger  :headbang:

Oh and more veggieness in my future......I'll be doing up falafel from scratch!

Girls love the guy with the biggest food processor  ^-^

So much for that veggie-ness, there are ribs in the oven!  But I will be eating a small portion with a ton of rice and spinach.

I have some bad news guys, even vegans are really carnivores:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/O6GimGZz6a8" target="_blank" class="new_win">http://www.youtube.com/v/O6GimGZz6a8</a>

Goto 4 minutes in, we are eating insects in places I never expected them.  This brings up an interesting point if we have any vegetarians here who are against meat for the environmental impact, what is your feeling about insects?  Could this become another major dietary restriction like pescatarian?

I’ve looked into this in the past and it’s pretty much impossible to avoid causing harm. Vegetarians with a strong interest towards limiting environmental damage endeavour to minimise their impact by missing out as many of the damaging steps as possible and that’s the best they can do.

Vegans get asked about these kinds of imperfections in their lifestyles quite often and the answer they give, nearly always, is that their choices are about minimising harm and that it is impractical or impossible to avoid harming completely.
