Damn being in the southern hemisphere
Camping = much fun!

I live in the south hemisphere too, but I don't think I'd have money to go anyway... and I never camped, so I don't have any equipment.

equipment is void when you have other people going who do.  if i can go, i'll be taking everything i own (or mum owns) with me, like the cooker, the kettle, chairs, tables - we camp in style. 

I see! For equipment, read "boots, sleeping bag, maybe other personal 'camping thing' ".  if I had the money I'd probably try to, of course, if someone would be nice enough to pick me up at the airport and host me. tomorrow lottery results will be out! who knows?

Just out of interest, do campsites generally allow acoustic instruments? The one I stayed at did but others have told me that this usually isn’t the case at the places they’ve stayed at in the past. It could be that they chose campsites that cater for a certain demographic though so perhaps it might be permissible on other  types of sites.   The reason this thought occurred to me is because I can easily imagine shadowboxers taking acoustic instruments to a campsite.

I can't see any of the NW campsites having a problem with it, the fields are usually so large that nobody can hear you from where you are anyway.  And if neighbours had a problem with it, they would tell you simply to keep it down.  The only problem, obviously, with groups of people, is the alcohol and rowdy partying factor, which would not be an option.

it's allowed, you're just not allowed to get wankered and be rowdy, keeping other people awake at night.  there's usually a time at night when they expect everybody to keep the noise to a minimum, but that depends, of course, on how far away from the other campers you are.  i'm wondering if this trip would be better arranged for before the kids get out of school here.

It WOULD, but I don't think it's an option because of time.
Might be a good thing to think about anyway.

That is just awesome. And I'd try to arrange it for before that. If it was here I'd say to arrange that for before uni/middle school holidays. I don't know for where you are. But there wouldn't be any time for that - holidays are close (though we are in fall/winter now and I dont see anyone eager to camp)

Camping details

Dates available at place we went last year (and it was nice)
Friday 6th - Monday 9th (they have ok'd this just waiting for you guys to say YES for def)
Rates: 2man tent with 2 adults (£18 per night) Sarah's Bigger tent rate (based on 3 adults inside) £26 per night
(basically it looks like each adult pays £8 per night which aint bad at all)
