Much as I'd like to agree, cuz those seem like they should be cool....  they're really kinda awful.

The heel wouldn't be so bad if the rest of the shoe was just...different in every way.

this dress is cool, especially in this colour...

...but a tragic choice in boot colour. I'm tempted to post this in the fashion don'ts thread as well.

I agree, I'm all about the red dress but the color of those boots is just strange.

Speaking of fashion DOs, is anyone else on LOOKBOOK? If you are you should hype my looks and become a fan so I can also fan you / hype your looks! Even if you don't have one you can hype my looks by hitting the "HYPE" button (you'll sign in via FB, Twitter, or Tumblr and it literally takes seconds). Anyone looking for an invite to the site can just PM me their email also and I'll send one along if you want to be involved  O0

I only go on this site to look at people's faces. Sometimes I feel like the clothes become the same outfit worn in different styles (like someone will wear a grey cardigan and someone else will wear a red one). I like them crazy ass outfits though. Those really loud kinds. Like your polyster butterfly thing-a-majig.

d'aw thanks! I'm really into '70s fashion right now so I'm all about high waisted pants with wide legs, they make my ass look insanely hot, and of course there's nothing better to wear with that than tight paper thin tee shirts or skin tight butterfly collared polyester shirts with insane patterns. I wish you could see that shirt up close actually because the print on it is Degas paintings of ballerinas!
you can sort of see it there. Also I love doc martens, I have a pair of cherry red 14 eyelets!

bit of trivia now: Andy Warhol was shot in 1968 and never fully recovered, and wore a corset for the rest of his life.

this seems to be a common faux pas for corset wearing Goth girls of the slightly fulller build....... I wish they would learn how to wear corsets properly (the ones that go around with it only loosely tied also annoy me.... whats the point in wearing it?)

personally I think the gothy look should have stayed at most people's local middle school where it belongs, that being said there are some people who have the finesse and smarts to do something more interesting with it.

Goth had more of a punk homemade feel to it.
Dita is wearing designer clothing and both have the whole perfect covergirl makeup thing going on.

I would say she's taking a goth / bdsm feel to a classically sexy look. Drawing inspiration from the original GOTH style seen in this 1880s era mourning dress

Dita's influence is quite squarley based in 40's 50's vamp look and while burlesque is not actually "Goth" or particularly gothic..... as a bit of an expert on "Goth" and gothic fashion from the 1780's through to now..... I dislike the modern phenomena of metal and american teen pop being lumped into the Goth thing......
this was funny though

Oy, d'you know the difference between a Goth and an IT professional?

The Goth kid dresses all in black, has no interpersonal skills, hates his life,
and wears pancake makeup to look pale.

The IT guy doesn't need makeup.

I love the skeleton heel too, as in the heel.. Mmmm...Now I'm thinking of an entire skeleton shoe... :o

I -NEED- those boots. right now.

[edit] I also think these are the same boots Faye Reagan was wearing in black in a goth themed photo shoot, the boots that I saw and immediately LOVED AND MUST HAVE just like these ones but I can't check right now because I'm in a public place and I don't want people to judge me for looking at ~porn. Amazingly enough (I know you'll be shocked) if you google Faye reagan goth boots, it does in fact
take you to a webpage with a lot of pictures, but only ONE picture one might post on a family-friendly
(well, this family anyway) site.

I couldn't find a great picture and didn't wanna search through mass amounts of legs ;D
But I love mini skirts & over the knee socks. I've been wearing them all week (without the heels) in celebration of them actually staying up. They never used to. Very much fun to wear :P ...but perv-magnetizing...

If you wanna see 'em, I guess you'll have to google it yourself, but the
first page I found them on was pretty much the defining case of NSFW.   :o

No? I can still see the pic.. But yeah, the probability of my search results being extremely NSFW was the reason I didn't google it myself, haha.

Anyway, uploading and reposting because they're gorgeous boots on a gorgeous girl:

Second pair is probably my favourite pair too, although I quite like the shape of the first one.
You could probably get them in man sized/shaped. If you feel like killing your feet in the name of Lux Interior and cool shoes.

Trench coats are in for guys, especially the young ones. Also, them parkas. I once went through this goth phase and thus I still have a lot of those platform boots, neo-nazi boots, long black trench coats, straight jacket jacket, but I gave away those parachute pants. So considering that I have a lot of clothes in my closet that I never wear, I've decided to mix my goth attire with my current attire. It looks damn good, yo. Also, I'm beginning to like steampunk fashion. I found this awesome navy green tail coat at a store once, it was gorgeous. It had gold buttons and embroidery, the only thing is it cost about 200-something dollars.

(just read through rest of topic)  Back to the muffin boobs, I don't care what anyone says. Chubby gawfik girls are proof that god loves me and wants me to be happy. The ears have to go, though.

Whatever you want to call the pseudo-goth looks, I still like many of them, even if my preference lies with the Siouxsie/Patricia Morrison/Batcave look. No need to ley elitism ruin everything else.

For classic goth stroke material, I'd like to direct your nostalgia-misted eyes to this photoblog- http://nowthisisgothic.tumblr.com. There are too many things there to pick just a few to post. I'll do it later when I'm not dying of sleep deprivation.

Here's a "fashion-hopefully". I made these last night. The idea's been on the backburner for months now. Those are handcuff keys made appropriately into cufflinks.

The best part I think might be the ever so subtle bondage insinuation among anyone who recognizes the keys as belonging to handcuffs.

Does anyone know of any DIY men's fashion communities anywhere online? I'm having trouble finding anything worthwhile, if such a thing exists at all.

Well you can always try Instructables.com or Threadbangers.com

And also, I love your cufflinks. I saw them on your Tumblr and I guess I forgot until now.

Yeah... instructables is more than just fashion, it's also cooking, mechanics, and all sorts of "weekend" projects. I've never built anything from the website because all the things I find majorly amazing are almost always the technical/mechanical things that require tools that I do not know how to use. There was this "Bike Around Google Earth" project where you set up your bike into one of those stationary things so that you can ride it indoors during the winter, and then you hook it up to your computer so that you can pedal around Google Earth which I thought was fucking amazing, but then came the tools and the instructions and I was like, 'Yo, stop right there, I don't know the difference between the red wire and the green wire.' Yep. Anyway. I digress.

Back to topic.

Nooo, don't shop there. They're evil.
I bought a t-shirt there once and there were tiny holes in it so I returned it and they just put it pack in the shop.

noooo :'( meanies.
i don't usually like their quality (sort of h&m-ish), but i kinda dig the style of some things, so i bought the pants cause i just loooooved the buttons!
but i hate that their sizing is completely off. i have now shed down to an italian size 42 or 44, depending on brands, but here i had to buy a 46! boo.

I was on the American Apparel website and I read a note somewhere that the holes are purposely there to give off a vintage style. I say bullshit.

Fun fact: The creator of American Apparel is French-Canadian. Betrayer!

What the hell? Where?!

So guess who found 9 dollar cords at Club Monaco? Usually they sell super expensive shit, actually not usually, all the time, but my clever cheap ass managed to find what was once $89 cords. And then yesterday, before my class, I went to the super huge one by my school and found what used to be a $49 shirt for 9 bucks. I'm gonna look hot this summer!

Package arrived this weekend with a bird-skull tie pin I ordered from an Etsy shop. It’s much larger than I had expected, which does limit the places I can wear it, but it is still nonetheless a delightful little trinket. Here I'm wearing it with the Cyberoptix “Heart Attack” necktie.

Fashion Do: Every women must own a sexy, red dress.

i WISH i had a good crimson colored dress...i can never find one that works for me, same with a little black dress...although i do have what i like to call my marilyn monroe dress it's kinda almost like her white one but black i think i got it from a vintage store (as in they make stuff that looks vintage, i dont have the money for real vintage lol) although i did get a really cute good looking purple dress for like $10 almost a year ago

One of my favorite things about that photo is the eyes glued all over the guitar. I want to start covering everything I own in them.

I will forever have this image in my head of being about 10 or so and being in a hotel near LAX and seeing a woman sitting in the lobby wearing bondage heels. According to my mother she was a prostitute, but now having been in the kink scene myself for a little while and looking back on it I have a feeling she was someones personal sub that they were showing off.

For anyone who doesn't know, bondage heels, or ballet heels, have extremely (usually 8 or 9 inches) long heels and force the wearer to walk en pointe, they aren't all that rare of a sight at fetish clubs where there wearers are generally sitting. :P

I disagree. I think a lot more attitude goes into beauty, and a lot of confidence. I don't wear make-up, or uncomfortable clothes and I know more than one person who calls me beautiful on a regular basis :)

There is beautiful, and then there is the monstrous inhuman machines that is fashion. I am not saying that you have to endure the above formula to be beautiful, but you do have to endure it if you wanna work in the fashion industry. It's all smoke and mirrors, none of the clothes look pretty from the back, because you can see all the tape, and where they are just pinned together. Models have to endure hours of posing in unnatural poses (Yeah, wtf is up with that backwards elbow out of the hip pose?) and heat from light bulbs while wearing tons of make up, and fans that produce hurricane (true fact) force winds for those "dramatic shots". Then they have to deal with all the people, true fact: people who work in the fashion industry are, more often then not, not nice.

I have a couple friends who are in modeling and it is definitely not a job I would want.

The way she is posed is making her garter belt lay funny; you gotta work with your clothing, not against it! (I'm just being a bitch :P)

they look like garters do when a body moves this way.
and add to the picture for me.

a large part of the aesthetics of clothes is how they move, fit, drape, etc.

a large part of the sensuality they add to a person, is how that person moves in them,
and move them

the team that created this picture understands this

I was just being catty, I have no actual issues with the picture. But, just as clothing can lay correctly, it can lay horribly wrong.

I'm sure many look at this photo and think "lay" but that has nothing much to do with the garter belt.

My only gripe is that while it's a deep shade of crimson, it's not much of a fall or winter outfit.  8)

I imagine the garter belt would come into play if one was going to attempt to lay with this woman, if not, the act might be a little hard... no?

not in the least.  one can work around a garter belt quite nicely.  it need never be disturbed.

garter belts can be worn over, under, or

there are knickers (to use the UK term), girdles, teddies, etc.
that comes with garters attached.

yes, and in most traditional cases, the panties/knickers are separate.

in some lingerie sets they come as len said, attached, or they are attached to a teddy, perhaps.  but, traditionally, the undies are a separate entity, and the garters are worn sort of over them.  the original purpose of a garter itself is for stockings.  smaller garters were worn by men for holding up their socks, and of course a garter that fits around a single leg is perfect for holding a derringer if you happen to run a saloon.

Some wear their garter belt under the other undergarment.
I'm told that the cut and style of the other undergarment,
can make this more comfortable.
Makes the trips to the powder room,
a little easier

Some wear garter belts, and single leg garters without stockings.
(Quite a few brides do not wear full length nylons these days.
(There is a custom in my part of America,
for the bride to wear a garter,
which the groom 'embarrassingly' removes, during the reception.
when the bride tosses her bouquet, to the single gals,
the groom tosses the garter to the single guys.
(whether this is done blindfolded or not, ...)
those who catch it, as suppose to be the next to get hitched)
)
Some wear several garter belts.
Either might be involved with kinks or fetishes

they do the garter belt removal/groom toss in weddings around here too.  invariably, the guy tries to be all cool and slingshot the thing, resulting in it going a foot into the air and falling back on his head, because they are only elastic enough to stay up, not act as a missile.  so really, it's two tosses.

i always have found it odd,
that the rehearsing stops at the rehearsal dinner ; - }
(in the sections of America, I frequent,
weddings have become a weekend affair.
Friday evening the wedding party meet at the
wedding site, and everyone goes through the moves
of the ceremony.  Afterwards, everyone goes to dinner,
and are usually joined by any family and guests who have already
arrived.  but things like first dance, cake feeding,
and sacrificing singles are not rehearsed at the dinner.)

My male and female shoe sizes are the exact same, how is that even possible? If I follow the conversion charts, or the foot measure'y things female shoes are always too big.

I think its cause most heels or flats I've tried on don't have arch support, and I have high arches; where as all my boy shoes have arch support in them.

Btw the dress on the left pic doesn't look like the one on the right. The one on the right is kinda slinky yet the one on the left seems to be a little loose. Anyway they both look cool.

Yeah, the left one definitely looks like a loose cut/cheap fabric version of the one on the right, but look at that lace!

It really really does. I think that could be the work of some poor editing.

and while we're talking fashion I'm going to present to y'all two incredible outfits from Project Runway. Neither of which won the challenge in which they were presented! But in my opinion, really should have.

This dress is made from birdseed people! Birdseed!

And though the hair is all wrong, the dress is awsome. And the winning outfit was a trainwreck, it looked like some bulky thanksgiving arts and crafts project.
Does this dress remind anyone else of Willow Smith's '21st Century Girl' video?

It really really does. I think that could be the work of some poor editing.

head size seems ok to me,
but i can see several optical things going on:

* dress is black, which causes it to recede from the eye

* light skintone and light hair, which causes her head to appear closer

* her head is turned slightly and she has relatively big hair,
which gives her head a wider profile

* she's thin, and her upper body is square to the camera,
which makes her body appear smaller

I love LOVE LOVE! when a woman gets mad at someone for looking at their chest when they are wearing a graphic/witty tee, it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside.

Men need to start wearing bootie shorts with words written across the seat so we can have a reason to stare at their butts.

I can't find the fashion don'ts thread so I'm posting this as a Fashion MUST NOT DO

Jeans or chino's or any form of pants with cinched elastic ankles

Ugh what is wrong with people, and they're so popular among teenage boys here.

I already have more jackets than any man has a right to have, but still spent some $115 on this. totally worth it

I'm tempted to post this in fashion, hair, AND people you want to bang. But hair is also kind of fashion, and god damn I love those stripes, and aww.
