they do the garter belt removal/groom toss in weddings around here too. invariably, the guy tries to be all cool and slingshot the thing, resulting in it going a foot into the air and falling back on his head, because they are only elastic enough to stay up, not act as a missile. so really, it's two tosses.

that the rehearsing stops at the rehearsal dinner ; - }
(in the sections of America, I frequent,
weddings have become a weekend affair.
Friday evening the wedding party meet at the
wedding site, and everyone goes through the moves
of the ceremony. Afterwards, everyone goes to dinner,
and are usually joined by any family and guests who have already
arrived. but things like first dance, cake feeding,
and sacrificing singles are not rehearsed at the dinner.)
