Kickass Recording Studios

I'm really curious to hear some awesome recording studios people know about. Big or small, major label or independent, it doesn't matter to me.

I was interested in Chris Walla's project and in Butch Vig's Smart Studios, but both of them are recently closed.

Here in the Detroit area, Ghetto Recorders puts out some cool sounding stuff - I think they're still analog tape only.

Even if I don't care for any of the music I've heard that was done there, the sound is pretty amazing.
