It seems a shame that so much is manga based though....

Ear fail.
Robin Steampunk is cosplay technically.
Yeah it's also considered fashion by many but what '9-5 normal person goes outside with brass goggles and a plumbling pipe ray gun?
Cosplay is just Halloween for pop culture stuff. A bit of craic with some friends as characters from something you find mutually interesting.

Shadowboxers cosplay as Amanda and Brian every month here :)

I love those protest-protesters!

Also, I've decided on a character to cosplay as for an upcoming Con.
Crimson Viper from Street Fighter

(the hopeful outcome)

The costume's simple and I already have some of it. The rest will be easy and cheap enough to get. Plus, I'd kinda wear the outfit in general! :D
I'm gonna work on some others too. There's that con and another coming up soon.

Hopefully I will be going...

I was asked 10 years ago to stop coming to our local Starfest due to my dressing as my favorite sci-fi character, Jesus of Nazareth.

Apparently, folks were not amused. Art and humor are, happily, subjective.

^ A science teacher at my school used to wear a Star Trek uniform on non-uniform days. She also had enormous banners with Captain Picard's face on hung up round her lab, and photos on her desk of her wedding day where her and her hubby wore Star Trek dress uniform thingies. There was a klingon in one photo. I was very fond of her xD

Raliel, when they finally get around to drawing the right lotto numbers so I can
have my many-millions-of-dollars, would you mind running a bar/pub/club for me?

I figure you can accommodate all the happy weirdos who simply aren't served
(no pun intended) by more conventional places.  I'll be sure to come visit once
you get it running, and I can stand out because I have no tats, piercings or
conspicuously black garments...  or pointy ears.

....oh wait...  "Weirdo" is no longer the preferred term, is it?
"Conventionality Impaired Persons"?

Me again........

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/bX3eU60MD50" target="_blank" class="new_win">http://www.youtube.com/v/bX3eU60MD50</a>

disclosure:  Most of the people this guy talks to appear to be paid "booth babes" who probably
don't really watch/play/enjoy the games/manga/anime/films they're selling, and who, when they
call the Con-guys "dorks" do not mean it in a nice way.
