I heard about this aaaaages ago but nothing was confirmed... I really hope they do a great version of this story ( kind of nicked for AvP and for The Thing already..... AvP had the ancient ruins in antarctica...... The Thing basically had the Shoggoth and the Ice station horror)

It will no doubt suck, just like nearly all H.P. Lovecraft adeptations.
With the notable exceptions of Reanimator & The HPLHS' Call Of Cthuhlu.

Worst of all being The Dunwich Horror (had they even read the story?) & Cthuhlu (which was actually The Shadow Over Innsmouth)

Cthuhlu (which was actually The Shadow Over Innsmouth)

Do you mean the black & white one that was actually kinda cool, or the
one that came out in '07 where some guys apparently sat down and said
"Okay, how can we make the gay-est horror adaptation ever?"*

*I have no problem with gay people, gay actors, or gay anything else... to a point.
When you're watching a movie and you can just tell that not only are all the actors
and the director gay, but the cameraman, gaffers, sound guys, and of course the
"best boy" ...  that EVERYONE even remotely involved in the production is gay,
they've just taken it a little too far.

No i'm refering to the film with Tori Spelling & if the "gay" black & white film your refering to is the HPLHS version then you should be shot. That film is amazing.

^I think he was referring to the newer one as gay, not the black and white one.  He said that one was cool.

I am just concerned with the 3D.  I don't want the studio to try and Ratnerfuck the story.

The bad one did, now that you mention it, include Tori S....  as the awful married
straight woman who drugged the gay protagonist and forced him to have sex with
her...  and it was in colour.

The b/w film was cheesy and showed the obvious absence of anything resembling a
"production budget", but I gave them points for honest effort and creatively working
around/with their lack of funding.

I'd gladly watch the b/w again, but would prefer scrubbing the loo to sitting through the other.

Sorry Cee I misread your post. The colour one annoyed me because it was called Cthuhlu but was a loose adaptation of The Shadow Over Innsmouth

I still have managed to avoid watching the Tori Spelling version of "Cthulhu" as it looks so awful.....
on a positive note the HPLHS are doing a movie of "The Whisperer in Darkness" ... this ones a Talkie!

How remarkable!  It seems they've managed to produce a sound-recording that
plays in near-prefect sychronism with the moving-pictures!  :o

Legend Of The Overfiend (I think that's what your refering to) was awesome but tenticles aside hardly Lovevraft. Don't remember any of Lovecraft's central characters being cronic masturbaters!  :o
