Bootlegging lawsuit with a twist....
« on: August 16, 2010, 11:37:11 AM »

So the organizers of the "Mile High Music Festival" are suing people for selling knockoff
festival-branded merch at their festival...

The catch?  The show hasn't happened yet, and they don't have any names to go on
the complaint...  http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20100811/01343110578.shtml  :angry7:

Isn't this usually handled simply by having a couple off-duty cops at the show, patrolling
the parking lot, and confiscating the unlicensed stuff?

I know zero about the topic(s) at hand, but there's comments posted after the article suggesting this is a pretty common type of lawsuit, and from what I'm reading this is what enables/prompts said cops to go around confiscating the unlicensed stuff.

Could be nonsense though, it's not like all the other commenters are getting in line to agree.

Actually going to court and filing lawsuits before it happens?  No wonder people
think lawyers are evil...
