I would like to do some busking (of a sort, see below) in front of Cabaret.

now... I have large feet. size 10 men's, size 12 women's. I think I have resigned myself to paying for these as period-appropriate lady's shoes in those size wouldn't come along that frequently.

as far as the dress, let me describe my character and my needs. I would like to not so much "busk" in the traditional way as hand out flyers speaking of the danger of Free Masons and maybe even the Jews. I will design and write the flyers myself. (in English, not German. don't know German.) I will "busk" by selling the flyers. to portray this character I would try to look as respectable as possible, plain by 1931 standards. if I get the clothes, I think I will end up buying the shoes myself on eBay.

me: tall (5'10" at least), size 10 or so. (I could maybe squeeze into a size 8.) early middle aged. I live near Boston. if you PM me, I will give you a mailing adress.

I will gladly check my local vintage stores, but my working budget is....

...what's the next thing smaller than "practically nonexistent"?

You're looking for something solid, low-heeled, working-class....  "respectable"?
...probably black?

there is a wonderful vintage clothing shop near me but as I am in London it probably does not help you much.....
but please let us know how your search goes! (worth trying charity shops as quite often vintage 30's style stuff turns up when old ladies die and their stuff is dispersed)

One should always be a little improbable.

okay! I probably could do with a thrift store run anyway. (not that you usually can find such clothes at thrift stores, though I did find a gray garbadine or wool longcoat one time.
