thanx, Sean

i just added the words in italics

What len said. :P

I don't like to predict or demand tours, A + B work far too hard and on far too many awesome projects for us to demand their presence. Subtle hints will do.  O0 I'm personally looking forward to Edinburgh Fringe 2011 of which Amanda has mentioned. That's the extent of my hope, really!

amanda is among the happiest i've seen her about cabaret,
(i made 3 of the 4 shows last week)
(last fall -> new years eve -> winter there was this bubbliness underneath ; - )
but underneath where she keeps it pretty well hidden,

she is the weariest,
i've seen her

she works hard for all of us,
give them some time

On complaining: I know I've stepped onto this soapbox before so I'll keep this short.
I know it sucks when a band doesn't place in a place/on a day/at a time/at your favorite venue when it's good for you, but that's what life tosses at us.

Seeing a message like "FUCK YOU FOR SKIPPING BOSTON, THE CITY THAT MADE YOU" within minutes of the announcement certainly isn't the reason why there wasn't a Boston show listed (nor am I saying everyone there is that aggro or should be punished for one bad egg), but it's crappy to see that at all, that=entitlement.

Both Brian and Amanda are thrilled and excited and itching to play together but as Len pointed out, please be patient. The future's a big wide open place for lots of potential amazingness, and the present is full of choices wherein we can choose paths to find said amazingness. Don't throw stones -- they don't always hurt, but they're fucking distracting, and you're missing out on the double-rainbow-goodness while wasting your time throwing them.

I couldn't agree more, I mean, you guys obviously see her for yourselves so know better but from an outsider looking in I can see she's had project after project and I don't know how any human being can keep up the pace she does. I kinda hope, more than a UK tour, a new album, anything that she takes at least a few months off and gets grounded again. I'd much prefer her rested, contented and happy in herself in whatever way she needs before going on another tour. Don't want to come across as baying for her talented blood. :P

tbh, i can't see how people can complain with no boston show.  its the dresden dolls!!!! im sure you can go out your ways to make it to another show
sort of, except that Boston is pretty much the only city that would cater to audiences from Maine, Vermont, NH, and some of MA. I mean Boston is already out of the way for me -- a two hour drive one way is a lot on my schedule, and NYC is a full five and a half hours, i.e. not possible on an uninsured car etc etc. BLAH PLEASE PLEASE play a Boston gig (or two @ the dise ideally!)

Easy to say, tough to do.

I have two choices based on the information given and two days to figure out what my move is:

A)  I can spend $1000+ going to NYC ($300 flights x2, $200 hotel rooms, transport, etc) not to mention the cost of the tickets.

B)  I can wait, hope there's something west coast in the near future.

With A, I will see a good show but will be horribly bummed if I could have seen 3 shows on this side of the continent for the same price.  Money ain't free, I already work two jobs to have the cash for this stuff and I appreciate being able to make wise decisions with my cash.

With B, I can be horribly disappointed if I miss the NYC show AND don't get any shows here either.   It would fucking SUCK if I miss out on this sort of thing from the band I love the most out of anyone.   Ugh.

I'm cool with a "we're not doing west coast/europe/the moon" this year thing.  That'd tell me all i need to know.  Or a "we hope to do more".  This seems semi-intentionally vague.    It'd be okay to be vague, if i had more than 2 days to figure this out.   Patience is something that we're not being given on the other end so it's kind of a tough decision here.

Some times I wonder if people actually go out of their way to find something to complain about, to find something wrong in things that are otherwise beautiful.

Good things happen, and sometimes you can't be there to witness it and it's sad for you, but that doesn't mean that a) more good things won't happen that you can be part of or b) that you should spoil it and be sour.

So if you can't make it to one of the newly announced tour dates - it's totally reasonable to be bummed, but you can't expect everything to cater to you, your home town, even if it's Boston and it SEEMS like an obvious place for DD to tour, there are a shit ton of reasons why things work the way they do and you can't ever rule out the future.

The thing with Amanda and Brian is that they (along with their team) bend over backwards all the time to make fans happy, unlike any other musician out there right now. Disappointment is a natural feeling, especially in tour routing, it stings, I know, but that's how things work, bands can't tour every city in the world, fuck, they can't even tour every major market for an assortment of reasons, some obvious and some not.

i don't think anyone is trying or will be able to ruin this for other people by being upset about not being able to go. i, personally, am sad but more surprised that there is no boston date. i am grateful to live where i do and be able to see amanda so much. i just really would have expected the reunion to happen here. i'm only as upset as people from new york would be if the tour didn't include there, and i'm sure the dolls will visit both places multiple times in the future.

WORD!!!

I don't think I can make any of these shows, but for fuck's sake there is a Amanda and Brian Rainbow across the Muthafucking sky. If you can't taste the rainbow, you all need to get some new tastebuds installed pronto. The Dolls live. Find a way to get there, or shut up and hope like the rest of us. There is always hope, and MUTHAFUCKIN RAINBOWS!!!!

Words cannot even begin to describe the joy I'm feeling right now! I haven't even gone to a show at The Pageant in St. Louis since the last time The Dresden Dolls played there, back in Jan. of 2008. But, it was the first place I ever saw them play live (in May of 2005) and the place in which I saw them play the most live shows. I saw them play there 4 times in the following years. This is going to be just like old times...except for the fact that everyone I used to go to Dolls shows with have either moved away or gotten "real lives". But hey, I wouldn't miss this for the world and I know this is going to be an absolutely wonderful evening! From the very bottom of my heart, thank you to Amanda and Brain for doing this tour!!!!!

I really wish everyone in the d.dolls fanbase could
be understanding and positive

Noted that I live in greater boston,
and have seen them together and solo lots,
but i had to live with the 2+ year hiatus too

added emphasis to hayley's quote is mine
The thing with Amanda and Brian is that they (along with their team) bend over backwards all the time to make fans happy, unlike any other musician out there right now.

even before the great recession hit,
a+b were special in this regard.
many musicians care much less for their fans

even before the great recession,
the music business was often hard.
too many are in it out of greed.
that, too often, makes making deals, writing and signing contracts
hard.  very hard.  it can be very ugly.
(i have nothing direct from a+b+team about this,
my knowledge is from other sources
)

and venues book months ahead

so putting a tour together is real work and complex

since the great recession stuck,
promoters are having MUCHO trouble
filling venues.
only a few of the top acts
come close to selling out

merch sales are down

it's hard out there for everyone in the music business

a+b+team care too much,
to say,
we're trying to book a tour here/then,
and have it fall through
(none of them have said this to me in that many words ...)

(end of my periodic "the music biz is evil" rant ; - )

hang in there,
the best is yet to come

ps: and it will be even better,
if YOU can sell out ALL of this tour

the venues are HUNGRY for
bands that can do this

nottheonethatscrazy

Gah, so what if they're not going to Boston!
They're not coming to my state but I am almost crying with joy over here!
This will be my first time seeing them!!!
I think I'll either be at the New York show, the Kentucky show or the Chicago show.
AHHHH!!!!!!

Got my uke package and this wonderful dd announcement all in one day! I almost cried when I saw the video especially since they're hitting up STL (we tend to have a crappy music scene)...

Anyone know how much tickets will be running? They're going on sale Thursday, but I don't see prices and I'm really scared they'll sell out.

Also, if you guys (the dolls and team chaos) need anything for St. Louis, shoot me an email or something. I'd love to help out in any way possible: food, brigading, etc.
