Just to join in with the heartbreaking and heartaching posts from people because the Dolls aren't visiting a city near them.

Imagine if you spent thousands of pounds so that you could fly all the way from the UK to Cambridge, Massachusetts for a once in a lifetime trip to see Amanda Palmer in Cabaret and one of her late night shows and then a few weeks later they announce a Dresden Dolls reunion tour with a Hallowe'en gig in New York.

Guess when I fly back to the UK?  October 31st.

I have been crying myself to sleep every night for a week.

Didja try calling the airline to see if you can change the return-date?
This far ahead, they might play along and not rip you off too badly...

Personally, I wouldn't park at the edge of the subway system and try to ride in unless you know the area you're parking in (and it feels like that's a negatory). There's usually some decent street parking in the city, but with it being Halloween, it might just be crazy. You could perhaps check the idea of parking near the MetroNorth trains, which come into Grand Central from outside the city. Map here. For reference, it takes about forty five minutes to get between Mamaroneck and Grand Central. Some of the train stations may have parking lots you can park your car in for the day. I'm not sure on the cost of that.

Edit to add: This is another useful link in regards to traveling in: http://www.mta.info/mnr/
i totally agree. the end of the subway systems are not the nicest places to leave your car parked. metronorth is a great alternative but can be a bit costly (check the mta website for pricing). most parking lots for metronorth are free on the weekends, but be aware that trains stop running at about 1:45am and will not pick up again until 5:30am and november 1st is a weekday so extra charges will apply on the train for peak fares (morning rush hour) on your way back to the car.

you can also find paid,
and sometime free,
parking at stations on these commuter services into NYC:

  • NJ Transit to NYC Penn Station

  • the LIRR (several terminals in NYC, but Penn Sation would work best)

  • PATH (near NJ to NYC)

Last time i had to change my return date to the UK, i actually did it while i was still IN America, about 2 days before i was due to fly back, and it cost about £90, so hopefully you shouldn't have too much trouble, and if you do manage it, it'd be nice to see a fellow Brit at the gig :D

That's too bad! Hopefully you can rearrange your return flight. Earlier this year I flew from California to Seattle and then went up to Victoria to see a couple shows, shortly before the trip while I was searching for a concert in Seattle to try out some new recording gear I discovered that Evelyn Evelyn was playing in Seattle the night before I flew in. Oops!

Quick question is the open taping policy still good for the dolls?

Id love to make some tasty recordings of both Boston shows for the fans here.   :headbang:

^^ This.

Do.

(Specifically, make sure Dirty Business, Truce, Mrs O, First Orgasm, and Slide are extra good recordings).

No but really, I want good videos of these shows.  I am unbelievably jealous right now (not that Bostonians don't deserve it, they do) but the idea of seeing both albums played all the way through is just perfect.

They should come out very nice I now have an upgraded recording rig with nice high end mics     O0

Hoping to score dead center front row mez seats as this would be a prime spot for recording at that venue !!!!

It also sounds very nice in there.

I'm sure some of the people who cried foul at no Boston shows feel either really jerky right now, or think that because they bitched these shows were added.

I mean really, you thought they were not going to hook up Boston?  :uglystupid2:
