I'm sure some of the people who cried foul at no Boston shows feel either really jerky right now, or think that because they bitched these shows were added.

I mean really, you thought they were not going to hook up Boston?  :uglystupid2:

They weren't added because of people bitching. In fact, we tried to make sure the announcement didn't imply exactly that.
And, I mean, even if The Dolls did stuff like that -- there are a LOT of people from a LOT of places that they'd have to get to.

I became giddy like mad when I found out about the full album shows. 672!!!! with hats!

I keep seeing people mentioning "672" specifically as the holy grail of live stuff.
Is it that you like the song, or just because people think it's rare? I know I've seen her play it at least twice. And it ROCKS.

I've decided to go to night 2 because I'm going to Matt and Kim Thursday night and I want to be COMPLETELY EXHAUSTED on Friday, so I am going to burn myself out.
Also, I want to see Me and The Minibar live. I mean, ME AND THE MINIBAR!?!? But I would kill to see 672. Again, someone, please get some damn good footage (sneak it in. It won't be hard.)

See!? "672"...again...the two shows that come to mind she played at it (that I saw) she played "Me & The Minibar" too, I think.......Jesse, if you're paying attention, these were pre-"Yes, Virginia" shows...one in NYC, one in Boston...February 2006...

Just to be clear, you do know that I was not saying that the shows were added for that reason?

I'd love to see "672", but that's not the primary reason I'm going to the first show.  Watching a YouTube video of "Half-Jack" is what got me hooked on the Dolls, and even though I've seen that song performed (with or without Brian) a few times, I still can't get enough of it.  And I haven't seen "Colorblind" or "Truce" or "Slide" live before.

Also, I'm going to the same Matt & Kim concert (and Flo + the Machine on Halloween) and I'm not sure I would survive daily 5 AM wakeups for work and 3 concerts in a row.

Proving how faulty my teenage memory is. I was at the February 2006 show at the MFA, and there was 672. I am getting too old.

672 is amazing live.  but really, the idea of the whole album from start to finish is what is so appealing to me.  truce?  perfect fit?  ahh, and slide.  each i've only heard performed once live, so it will be nice to hear them again.

sean, i'm always paying attention to you. but what? hahaha.

for all the mystery surrounding 672, i know of more live recordings of that than necessary evil, minibar, colorblind, chris, etc etc etc. but a few of those were probably just because they don't look like a big deal i think. i dunno.

edit: i think i figured out what you meant.

i've got:

2003-09-26 (cd release)
2005-08-24 (edinburgh)
2005-10-12 (co lolwut?)
2005-10-31 (avalon ballroom in boston)
2006-02-03 (joes pub, ny)
2006-02-04 (mfa)
2008-08-04 (troubador)

is one of these the one you were talking about?

edit2: also, amanda left 672 out of the dolls' companion. i mean i would hope she'd play it at the show, but you never know...

that was to maintain the enigma of the song...

...but if you're playing full album shows, you have to play all the tracks.

Even Alanis Morissette played the hidden track when she did her Jagged Little Pill live tour 5 years ago, and that's not even a proper track. I really hope 672 is played, it is a proper track, albeit short and piano only.... maybe Brian can work in a wicked drum solo ;D

Are you assuming that's why it was omitted, or did a little birdy tell you?
....I dunno...it'd be mighty weird not to play it at a "we're going to play this album in it's entirety" show that isn't even THAT rare. Had it NEVER been played I'd get it, but it's been done, and more recently than a lot of other random stuff.

Colorblind is one of my favorite songs. It perfectly expressed what I was going through with a girl a few years ago. It was actually one of the few songs I was really hoping they'd put on No Virginia. Let's hope that if they ever record another album it'll be used. It's not to absurd to suggest seeing as they're finally performing together again. Even a limited edition live album would be good.

Pure speculation, seems to be probable/common sense.
