I really want to put my two weeks notice in, but my new manager (who used to be just my coworker, who also hasnt worked there as long as I have but whatever), told me I am irreplaceable and their most reliable worker.
Grrreat.

Things are so bad there. I can't even go into it. It's just ridiculous.

I know your pain so much, Mali.  Where I work I'm the only Copy girl who even knows how to use Photoshop.  Keep in mind, it's not even a requirement that you know how to use a computer for some reason, just as long as you can follow instructions like a dog, and click buttons with a mouse and type a small bit.  Therefore, instead of not using Photoshop anymore for orders, they now ADVERTISE that they use Photoshop, and can edit anything for whatever price.  I still get paid shit.  When I bought this issue up with my store manager, and how I wanted to train the others, she said I'm the strongest with it, and to come up with a price sheet.  I tried to tell her that I'd rather get PAID MORE FOR DOING SOMETHING THE OTHERS REFUSE TO LEARN, but she wouldn't even let me get that in.  I'm getting paid pennies for something you should be able to charge at least $10 an hour for.  She lied when I said I had a choice in whether I could turn down jobs or not.  She tells them, "She'll see what she can do, but leave it.", I come in, she tells me what I NEED to do, and trots off.

-_-

This equates to Caddy getting the biggest workload of design work.  This wouldn't be an issue, if my customers weren't unruly, picky assholes.  But because they are of the "genteel southern nature" I can never call them on it.  I'm betting that if I refused to do Photoshop, she'd get rid of me for cutting her customer base, and in this town we're having the same problem Cee is having.  No jobs.  Anywhere.  If I keep doing it, I get more and more stress (yaaaaay).  And yes, the managers do find bullshit reasons to fire people here.  My honey got fired over slushie.  It led to a better fucking job, but getting fired over slushie is pretty damn bad.  She got rid of him, because he was cleaning her store better than anybody had ever done before, and it was starting to make her look bad to the store owners.  He got fired for WORKING.

The above is actually just the TIP of the iceberg.  Floating about the bottom is sexual harassment, rumor mills, idiotic managers, poor distribution of hours, and a very hostile work environment where one girl constantly threats to slam people's heads onto counters, threaten people to "meet her outside", and other of the like.  She even told this to a manager.  This company does NOTHING to protect the employees.  And below that?  Lies from corporate.  Corporate ignoring employee complains, but there are no other jobs.  Anywhere.  I search every single day, too, but I'm stuck here for another four whole months.  Fuck me.

That said.

How Do You Know If You Are Burned Out?
If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms, burnout may be to blame:
•fatigue ** (I will sleep from around 3am until half an hour before my shift.  Every single day.  I have ignored errands that needed to be ran, because I didn't want to get out of bed.  Matter of fact, I slept from 2am last night, until 3:15pm today.)
•irritability **
•crying jags (I don't cry, I fight)
•anxiety attacks **
•weight gain ** (gained 20lbs)
•teeth grinding ** (Broke two teeth)
•increased drug, alcohol, or tobacco use  (Actually, at one point, I was drinking every night after work, but that was when I lived in the other horror house before we moved.  But it got to a point where I was no longer a happy drunk, and my honey forbade me from drinking for a few months, so that's no longer an issue)
•insomnia (I wish, sometimes.  I'd get more done.)
•nightmares  ** (horrible nightmares)
•forgetfulness  (actually, due to the anxiety, I'm more aware of everything.)
•low productivity at work (I don't have this option.)
•inability to concentrate **  (I can't follow a conversation much anymore.)

But good news is that we move to the city in four months, and out of this shit ass town.  And I go back to school, so there is a silver lining.  It just won't happen for a while.  ~frown~

Ugh, that's horrid. You know, someone here really fucked up, and they couldn't fire them because they can't afford it. So I'm not worried about being fired, sadly.
Everyone is really awesome here, they're just facing the collapse of the place and inner working relationship problems. It's a sinking ship. And I'm the only working oar, or something.
I'm watching my boss text as he helps a customer. I loathe hanging out here now. But where else do I go? Starbucks?

I live in a town with no jobs as well. I was jobless for ages before this job. I'm thinking of applying to the grocery store. Uggggh.

What I really need to do is intern for a firm or something.

Bah Caddy, lets go start a band.

I do enjoy the excuse to drink lots though. "how was your day?" "shitty" "Have some wine and here have some vodka"
I feel your pain, I was like that in my last job, I was always the go-to person, even most of the managers did, and  Iwas only part time.
I was so happy when I put my 2 weeks in after months of job hunting.

Yeah, I'm technically part time as well.

Good news is they cut my hours so severely that i'm hardly working this week! Woo! Being poor! Yay!

being an adult is fine - the only drawback is that your body ages and hte mind stays roughly the same
and teenagers look at you funny when you think you are still as young as a 21year old :p
so true.... I am still who i was at 21 at 38
I suppose I'm fortunate that way...

I don't look my age or act my age...

I look mid-30s, feel and act mid 20s...

(Yeah, I know, one day it's all gonna catch up with me in one horrifying crash, but for now...)

It's worse when you are a girl. It seems that at some point I was supposed to start looking and acting like a grown up. When I figure out how to then I might consider it. For now I don't actually feel any different so why should I change?

It has to be said that I DO NOT do the whole responsible adult thing....... and many people say i look a lot younger than I actually am....maybe it's a morphic resonance thing....and if you go through life expecting to be middle aged then you start looking like it in your 20's

People still think I'm 20-21-years-old.  I'm fucking 26 almost 27.  I just smile and say, "My 40s should be easy, then."

My co-worker thought I was 19-years-old.  I think it's because us fat girls stretch too far to have wrinkles.  Haha, self-implied fat joke.  o_O'

But no, srsly, my mom doesn't have wrinkles yet, and she's halfway through her 50s.  I like this.  <3

I got a 12 last night. Mostly exaggerating though. But everytime I tell people I'm 21 they don't believe me. I nearly have to carry my birth cert around so that people will believe me.

Better than me, I apparently look a good 5+ years older than I am. Bloody early male pattern baldness!

On the plus side of things, I look better now than when I was younger. Also, let's run down the list here:
  • alcohol
  • alcohol
  • real chocolate
  • alcohol

This old guy that hits on me at work (and by old guy I mean he is in his 70s) decided to guess my age and guessed 16.  :violent5: You've been hitting on me for three months and you thought I was underage? How...sweet.
