Sad Little Brigade Needs You
« on: November 03, 2010, 08:28:32 PM »

To all you art people who have this tiny little string pulling your heart in the direction of brigading:

DO IT!!! It doesn't matter who is organizing. It doesn't matter if no one else is doing it. It doesn't matter if you think your act isn't good enough. At this point, it IS good enough.

I was looking forward immensely to the return of the Brigade with the reunion of the Dolls. I was going to participate, and it was so exciting looking forward to and planning my "act" (more of an interaction with the outside queue).

It was Halloween. It was the reunion show. And outside in the line, I got a chance to share the excitement of people who had been waiting in the cold for hours. I got to interact with Dolls fans I didn't know. I got to share a bit of art, give them a one-night souvenir. Brand them as to having been there. Enrich their experience. It was a LOT of fun!

And there were very few other people out there doing arty things or performing.

It's up to YOU. You can make it happen! Think about it. Do it! There's no one who's going to judge you at this point. The Brigade needs new fire and new blood and new ART. It was sad to see so few throwing themselves into making it an experience rather than just a concert. Make it a party! If you love on people at a show, chat them up, offer to give them some thing or experience they wouldn't get anywhere else, they'll love right back on you. And we all want to be loved.

So make balloon animals. Paint people. Hand out stickers. Play crazy cover tunes on your ukulele/guitar/banjo/mando/viola. Dress UP. Give people hugs. Share truths with them, or let them share secrets with you. Be silent. Be loud. Be joyous. Be AMAZING, people! Connect! Open your heart and smile a little wider at EVERYone there.

You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
Join the brigade. Make art happen.

So - this is a lovely post and all, so thank you- but just to clarify:
There's not really any organization for the Brigade being done by anyone for this tour, and we should just show up with our act and be awesome?
I just want to make sure that, as far as everyone knows, none of the stuff in the FAQs applies at this point - the act approval stuff, the limited spaces stuff - all that.
