I got my Entertainment Weekly in the mail, yes I read trash mags, and they are rating Black Swan real high in the Oscar race.

I watched it last night, and even though I could pick part of the ending, I still finished watching it and was extremely confused. Definitely going to have to watch it a few more times.

So far Black Swan hasn't been doing so well at the award shows, minus Natalie Portman winning Best Actress. I have a feeling that's about all it's going to get since the score is ineligible for a nomination.

What an underwhelming film. I had such high hopes too. :(

Mr Frog has dubbed it Showgirls 2 - Swan Lake.

Saw it last night. Definite what the fuck factor. Beautifully shot, though. The audience was laughing a lot in moments that I don't think were supposed to be laughed at. Like the bit with Winona Ryder and the nail file. We all laughed briefly, but up in the middle of the theatre, the laughter/audience mutterings were really prolonged, like, until halfway through the next scene.
I thought the sound was really well done, too, but good sound and cinematography aside, the story didn't draw me in too much.
I somehow thought it would remind me more of Haneke's The Piano Teacher than it did, though. Not a good or bad thing, just sayin'.

Despite this one still doing quite well at the box office and seeming to not want to push the theatrical release after Natalie Portman's win at the Oscars, the DVD/Blu-Ray release has already been set at March 29th. I'm happy because I will be buying it but it seems a little quick. I figured they would try and draw this one out for a while longer.

Nope. The marketing boys figured out that the studio makes more money if they get it to Blu-ray as fast as possible. Let me see if I can explain why

Week 1 Studio 90% - Movie theater 10%
Week 2 Studio 80% - Movie theater 20%
Week 3 Studio 70% - Movie theater 30%
Week 9 Studio 10% - Movie theater 90%

The longer a movie is in the theaters the more money the local theater makes. Juxtapose that with the studio getting 95% of every DVD/Blu-ray sale. Is there any question why?

When I went to see it, I recall a few bits (like that one) getting some kind of nervous awkward laughter for slightly longer than necessary. It was oddddd.

The second time I saw it there was an older couple that walked out right as the first masturbation scene rolled in. Another person walked out after it was over.

so i finally saw this, we grabbed it from the red box.

i have to admit, i must watch too much porn.  after the sex scene, i was like, 'so.... that was their big sex scene?'  and then it turned out it didn't even happen, which just makes it stupid.

i also thought it was really distracting to watch the swanbumps all over natalie portman.  the plot was really predictable, and by the time it was almost over we were going, 'i bet she really stabbed herself, and she's totally going to die in the end on that mattress.'  although i would still like to know what was up with the bloody nail file; did she stab winona ryder, or what?

i guess it wasn't bad, but i probably won't watch it again, because it just didn't keep me caring about the characters.  i was more delighted by some of the cinematography (except the follow-jiggle-cam).  and, i just about jumped out of my chair when the painting moved its eyes.  i liked the horror-movie type visuals, where she keeps seeing herself all over the place, but after awhile even that got boring to me.
