If he was right, wouldn't there have been earthquakes and horrible natural disasters and stuff? :P

I thought it would start with an earthquake on the 21st of May and then there would be 5 months of horrible natural disasters and then the very last people would die on October 21st and everything would end? Well whatever it was, it didn't happen. And if it does happen on October 21st at least it will be quick :P

If you dig around enough, you can find pretty much the whole sheet:

....but the official story is (except when he's saying something different) that he got the
end-date right, but that God's being nice and making the space between the beggining-of-
the-end and THE END shorter...  Apparently six days is literally six days when one is creating
the world, but five months can be shorter when destroying it...

Thank you.

I am just in awe that people fall for stuff like that...

I mean, it would be bad enough if you believed it the very first time some religious nut made such claims but people fall for this shit over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over...

EDIT:  I want to add that I believe in a much broader definition of mentally disabled than what is standard among medical professionals... It seems that the main stream view is that you are only dumb to the point of being disabled if you are below certain statistical points (often two or three standard deviations below average).  But personally I define mental disabilities as being incapable of rationality.  Independent of how many people are also that dumb.

For example... I remember in my economics senior seminar the professor challenged the class to distinguish normative from positive statements.  Positive statements are testable/objective, while normative are not.  For me this was a very obvious, easy task, but one guy in the class really struggled with it...  He even tried to say that a statement by Carl Marx had to be normative just because Marx said a lot of other normative things.

In my view, that guy is mentally disabled because I think that is a very, VERY basic reasoning skill.  I can think of so many times I was called stupid for expressing a totally subjective opinion.  I'm amazed at people who just don't know the difference.

By the same token, I think you are mentally disabled (or insane depending on how it goes on in your head) if you can't distinguish between something that you just think sounds right, and something you actually deduced or observed.  People who believed the rapture was going to happen to the point where they made major life decisions on it (like spending their life savings) have this disability.

i think you might be on to something there.  willful ignorance is, for all practical purposes, the same as a disability in terms of how it affects a person moving forward in their life, it would seem.

mob mentality is another problem, it would seem.  telling a person something is way different than telling a group of people.

It has never ceased to amaze me, the way you can take 100 intelligent individuals, and
assemble them into a mob of borderline-cretinous intellect...  and further, the willingness
of those intelligent people, once separated (physically) from the group, to stick by the
views and opinions of the group in the face of inarguable rational critique.

#@!

That video is an excellent example of how some deeply religious people show their faith with extreme arrogance that is masquerading as humility.

That's one of the best examples of unintentional humor I've ever seen in my life.  The only thing that rivals it is this (I'm referring to that whole organization and not just this girl's video):

I've already done it 4 times today!
