As westerners, we follow the tropical zodiac, and the article that was put out is talking about the sidereal zodiac. The tropical zodiac is fixed to the seasons and equinox's, and always has been, while the sidereal is focused on actual start configurations. Since you have most likely always adhered to the tropical zodiac.... nothings changed. Ophiucus was never a part of the tropical zodiac, because when that was created, they only wanted to have 12 signs..... so it's all good.

I came here to say EXACTLY this.  It's like the media found something OMG COOL, and fucking ran with it.  Without any facts, and with people saying "OH IT ONLY AFFECT PEOPLE BORN AFTER *INSERT YEAR HERE!*"

No.  It doesn't.  It only affects you, if you're into sidereal astrology.  Not the traditional/tropical astrology.

I'm apparently still Pisces -just-. By like, 2 days, or something. Actually, according to one of the sites above I'm still pisces, according to the other I'm aquarius. Fuck it. I'm one of those annoying people on the cusp of two signs, then. Doesn't matter, anyway.

I kind of wish I was Ophiuchus, though. "The Snake Holder" sounds like a cool title.

Serpentarius sounds like someone that should be wearing a heavy hooded robe, with glowing eyes, and a tendency to try to plunge the entire world into eternal darkness or something.  Which beats a beardy naked old man (personal tastes notwithstanding), for sure.

And maybe it's just me, but looking at the diagram of the actual constellation vs the interpretation of what it's meant to be, astrologers appear to have imaginations that rival that of an enthusiastic 5 year old (I guess that's a "well, duh" thing to say).
