Two blog confusion
« on: January 29, 2011, 08:52:05 AM »

Dearest Team Chaos or maybe just Sean,

I found my way into the Other Blog today and felt a bit like Coraline. I am familiar withe this one: http://blog.amandapalmer.net/ where I am registered with Disqus and have read and contributed to comments.

but got to this one: http://amandapalmer.net/afp/blog by way of this page http://amandapalmer.net/afp/.

Have there always been two? Is the "old" one going away? I'm not registered with Word Press yet but will sign on if that is the Way of the Future.

Thank you!

Mary

i suspect there is still the copy at myspace
(the demographic is younger,
though some of the oldest fans read there.
(the blog been on myspace much longer))

my XO notebook won't load either myspace or word press

i suspect the two blogs you link to are the same,
just presented differently.
a careful read each page source could tell

maybe Sean will fill us in, before i'm somewhere
where i can check.

The website was just redesigned, some kinks are being worked out, if you see anything that looks weird please continue to let us know.

How did you get the /blog link? did you just type it in, or did a button on the website link you to it? The content there is exactly the same as the content on myspace and on the old blog link with the old website colors. The content is not going to be affected, just the website design/colors.

If you go to amandapalmer.net and click "blog" in the top navigation bar, it takes you to blog.amandapalmer.net - which is still active, up to date and should be the page you use to post comments to (unless you want to post comments to myspace).

just to state these points in another way:

the words and multi-media that amanda posts,
amanda's content,
has always been the same at
the different sites that have the blog.

different fans read at the different sites,
so the comments are different at
the different sites

the main blog site has only changed once,
since i became a fan,
and amanda noted it in her blog

Thanks for the response.  I could see that the content was the same, it was all the comments that I was worried about. Heaven forbid that I should miss any AFP/Dolls related conversation! I didn't type it in but followed this path:

Clicked on this link from Twitter profile:

http://www.amandapalmer.net/

Clicked Enter the Site:

http://amandapalmer.net/afp/

Clicked Blog button which led me to:

http://amandapalmer.net/afp/blog

However, that no longer happens. It goes to the "regular" blog with the gray background, so all is well.

or

The colloquy and various other forms of expression that Amanda puts on the interwebz,
Amanda's junk,
exists simultaneously and identically everywhere via
the majik of the webbernet

Each individual may peruse the pontifications
and respond as desired
Wheresoever said individual chooses.

The Motherblog has transfigured but once
in a coon's age
as has been acknowledged by the AFP in the same.

:coolsmiley: In that case, there's nothing to see here, move along folks ;)

right now
http://amandapalmer.net/afp/blog
goes to a copy of the blog, that has blog entries back to
around neil's 50th birthday
the back ground is N copies of an old
map of australia and new zealand

the blog entries have no comments

at the bottom is
a comment box, but i couldn't log in

and:

Amanda Palmer                                   Proudly powered by WordPress.

i suspect it's an artifact of the way the blog is published,
but why can us mere mortals can reach it?

same day if i'm less busy, i may go read the html and javascript ...

Hurrah for switching to Wordpress. Tumblr sucks with that whole Disqus business.

not clear that a's blog is switching to word press.
not clear what's going on here at all.

what bothers me about the Disquis business
is i have to enable
Third Party Cookies
to make a comment.
THIS IS A KNOWN EVIL Security Practice.

So I comment less on a's blog these days
