p.s. Musings: Jesus was younger than me when he got nailed, let alone len. :D

What I said was in response to Len's response to "have you ever been told you look like a celebrity that you look nothing like?"

Which was:

^^ Santa Claus, Rip Van Winkle, Moses, Christ, Mohammed, ...

And I responded on that thread that I didn't think so....

peace love unity respect boxers.

As long as the r word is there, the rest will come.

I respect everyone on this forum as long as they show the same respect for me.  This is like 2nd grade stuff.

I almost wonder if it isn't on purpose. Ya know, pushing buttons to see what will happen.

i thought about this.

when i went wild on the Literotica boards, i posted tons of pointless threads, and all of them simply to annoy the fuck out of the current board members. they were about anything, and in the end, they did their job. eventually, i got blocked as spam on that account.

when people get upset about their treatment, their only revenge is to do things the opposing party hates. people hate Len's lovingness and over posting. people hate it when he doesn't respond to them (or think it's a good subject of conversation). people hate it when Len mods.

therefore, he will continue to do so until it reaches a head. who knows when that will happen.

I'm with Len.  A nice gesture to someone you don't really know never hurt anyone.

i have to admire a person who evaluates the idea,
independent of the person who expresses it
not to indicate that CeeGBee has been anything but civil and luvin' to me and everyone here on the box

i had expected to find only comments from the grinches here

a pleasant surprise to find comments from many others

You don't think that telling people to "change the name of the thread" to be "more creative" and suggesting that peoples post be removed or modified to fit the fucking topic and otherwise trying to change the ENTIRE board dynamic, to suit HIMSELF, is a liiiiiiiiiiiiiittle bit much?

i've only suggested this a few times,
for reasons that remain valid to me

in general, i like thread evolution/drift/turns,
but not thread hijackings, especially in threads like
  • the few game threads that stop working for their intended purpose
if turned into yet another of the 1,000's of discussion threads
  • congratulatory threads, including birthday threads
rude to make a member read though off topic discussion
as part of his birthday celebration
unless you know the person well, and are sure they will enjoy it

and my observation on the old and new boxes,
is that this is usually what people do here on the box,
is recognize that those threads are different and
not hijack them ...

... except when i'm involved ...

there is a third case, i remember, when i was
musing/specualting about how to make sure the
hoax thread would stayed marked a hoax
thread

the box's mods have handled that well enough,
in simpler ways then i brainstormed about

There's a bunch of hoax threads, Len. There's just one that you made your mission. I have the Gerard posts on scroll now. The hoax warning thing didn't suit me. I could bump and lock it. It's my thread.

Bump and lock it sounds like a dance.

I like the word hijack too.

Oooh! New sig!

well, then, did anyone even come back to look?

of course, i was checking

it was useful data to know what the experiment's results were

the inactive newbies might not know to thank people in the
newbie's happy birthday thread, so seeing they had been on the board
is useful data

of course, they might read the thread without logging in
they were in Everything Else and accessible to the entire internet

i was planning to fix this bug in the protocol,
when the experiment got derailed

one of them logged into the box
before i deleted the threads

i certainly hope they didn't see their happy birthday thread
i don't know if they did or not

personally, i'd be more attracted to a forum if i went on, saw a birthday thread for me and discovered it was what these threads have been lately rather than going on and finding a saccahrin sweet thread of people whom i didn't know wishing someone they didn't know (me!) a birthday.
at least that shows it's a lively forum with discussion and not a forum that's slowly dying because people play roles they aren't/shouldn't.

one's a whole lot less creepy than the other.  i've made my mind up as to which is which!
