Baltimore Brigade
« on: November 02, 2007, 06:22:32 PM »

With the Dolls playing in DC earlier in the evening, this kind of ruins my plan of leading a parade through the inner harbor to the venue (I assumed they'd play at Sonar, but Ram's Head is closer to the squares, so it'll be easier to shake them up), but it doesn't ruin it too much.

Since this is the Dolls' first time in Baltimore, I think it's important to 1) Let Baltimore know the Dresden Dolls have arrived and 2) Let the Dresden Dolls know that Baltimore is awesome.

So let's start by finding out who's going to be coming to the show.  Then let's see what we can put together.

This is a Baltimore Brigade Roll Call.  If you already have an act idea, say what it is.  If you're coming to the show and want to Brigade but don't have any ideas, list your skills.  If you don't think you have any skills, just say you want to Brigade and we'll help you put something together.

This is my town.

Let me hear you if you're with me!

This parade is coming along!  I know there are others out there who will join in.  There have got to be more people reading this than are responding.  Though it would be pretty cool to go to a Dolls show with only the 20 of us.

Don't be shy.  You're gonna be walking from your car to the venue anyway, so let me know you're coming and march with us.  What better way to show the world how much you love the Dresden Dolls and care about adding fun and beauty to the every day mediocrity of life?  Join the parade!

So far, joining the parade (26):
-Stilting : Paco
-Hooping : Uli Loskot
-music : Tiffany DeFoe from Gunwife Gone (saxophone), Chrissy from Jean Louise (undecided), Jane from Abiku (undecided), Matt Warfield (drum)
-marching : Becky, Sunny Kitty, Desire's Sister, Liz, Murph, Stephanie, Shelley, Jared, Kathe, Alice B. & Co., JesLynne, Lunazuga, Liana, Josh & Jess.fun, Nikki & Kate
-Flag bearers : still looking

-Anything else : YOU! (I don't need to know you.  If you want to Brigade Parade at this show, comment below)

DETAILS!!

The Parade plans are coming along. It looks like we're going to have a great crowd. Since I have to be ready to perform when the doors open, I'm going to need the parade to get to Power Plant Live! before then. The doors open at 10. and since most of the people marching in the parade will want to be be Brigading before the show, let's try to finish the parade at the venue by 9:30, so we have a half-hour of playing around time and you can still have a decent place in line if you want to. So, that means we're going to start marching no later than 9:00 PM. Which means we should all be assembled at the meeting point by 8:30 PM.

We will meet at the fountain in the Inner Harbor on Pratt St between Light St. and Calvert. Here's a map by MapQuest: Map of 100 E Pratt St Baltimore, MD 21202-1009,  US

email me at thepacofish@yahoo.com with "Brigade Parade" in the subject if you have any questions or you want to be updated with details.

It's my town too!  But...I'll be in New Jersey, seeing as it's during my winter break :(.  A parade through the inner harbor sounds so great...I want pictures of this, should it happen or not!

I am brigading!

I've been working with Amanda on a "shores' installation..but I dont know if it's definitely going through..and if so what cities it will be at. (it involves some big items that making traveling difficult.).

if it works out..there will be one of those large painted boards (you know with the bodies painted on and holes where the head is...you put your head in) either of a shores freakish character...something dolls related...or something more provactive. that hasnt been figured out yet. there'd also be shores type characters/circus/carnies freaks assisting people with stepping up and putting their heads in...a long with a plastic pool filled with sand..and various items relating to shores/the dolls/anything fabulous and cheap . the audience would be able to step up and put their hands in and pull something out

..so like I said..I dont know if this installation is going through or not. amanda wants to hire a painter to do the boards and make the whole thing really badass..

..

another idea also is to do bloody/grungey/back-alley abortion/cabaret freak dr handing out little pieces of cake with doll parts in them out to the audience.

School :). MICA. I don't have a car.  Maybe I'll save up and take the bus though...train tix from Jersey tend to run about $90.  And I'd have to be there and back in one night?  If I had a car/a buddy willing to drive to Baltimore, this would be easy, but I don't.  I really wish I could :(.  I can't stay in the dorms because they're closed over Christmas break, unless I want to set something up for a hotel-like rate, which...not to sure if I want to do.  Getting awfully expensive...:(

I'm planning on getting to the Baltimore, DC, Philly and NY show...for obvious reasons, I'm not yet sure if it's going to happen but! But butttututut I just wanted to let yall know.. I'm going to be attempting to hit this show, and if I do I definitely would love to do something, I just have no clue what, I'm a film student so I may just dress up but decide to make a documentary or just film the festivities...I'll know closer to the date after i get through my dec 1st college app. deadlines

Come to Glitterama on Friday or Saturday at the Load of Fun on North Avenue at Howard St.  I'm in the show.  I'm a lion.  Talk to me then and we can come up with some ideas of how you can make it to the show and Brigade, too.  I'm sure you'll be able to find a place to crash.
