"You kept pointing at this one girl and saying she was amazing. She was near merch!"

I'm assuming I kept pointing out Hayley excitedly to my boyfriend?

Was very drunk when I last posted and so stupidly forgot my thank yous -- Thank you Sean and Hayley, as well as Amanda for throwing a great party-- and most ridiculosly making it free.  I hope that everyone who was there either bought merch, or did what I did and just directly donated what they could.  If you didn't and you were at the show and are able to spare some cash, you should do so now, because thank yous are nice but money helps pay for Sean and Hayley and Amanda's tirelessness.

The first opener was freaking awesome.  I can't remember being that impressed by an opener since I saw Feist open for Bright Eyes.  Good shit.

And the crowd -- there is something utterly unique and beautiful about an Amanda Palmer show audience -- nothing else in my life is quite like it.

Dear Amanda Palmer,

This I will say first:  I fucking respect you.  I respect that you do what you want, that you reinvent yourself, that you support up and coming artists, that I am slightly drunken right now because there was an open bar.

No matter what else, and there will be an else, remember that.

That being said, you will never, ever, be my dance party music.  Matt & Kim -- they are the type of band that I will dance out to, not quite knowing the lyrics, not quite caring.  They will be the band that I let loose and pump my hand into the air for.  You won't be the Amanda Palmer + synthesizer + Australian band music.

I care too much.  You will be my I'm broken up, I know all the words to "Astronaut" and "Have to Drive" and it is fucking poetry music.  You will be my, my heart is broken and my brain is broken and you are my solace music.  You will occasionally be I broke my bra dancing to "Guitar Hero" but the words still broke my heart  music;.

You are in good company.  Elliott Smith is somewhere next to you.

It's not your fault.  I am happy that you are happy, that happiness has taken the form of a synthesizer and a dance beat.

But the space you occupy in my brain and heart, it is much more, Amanda Palmer.  It is more than what you did tonight, the mythology that you occupy.  I am sorry for that burden and wish I could wash it clean.

And still I respect you for all that you do.

this. *sigh* although i don't know the new songs, but this was how i felt about some other recent AP stuff. a lot of people can make good dance music. but i don't think anyone else can make amanda-palmer-deep-poetry-beauty-songs that almost are a religious experience. (which does not mean that i don't like the newer stuff. at all.)

I just wanted to join the chorus of thanks for last night. Great venue (clearly it will be missed by many), nice to watch Pope do his thing, new songs were great, and GOOD GRIEF can Super-Kate dance! 80's dance party was an extra bonus.

And Amanda if you read this -- thanks for the singing the Evelyn Evelyn deck. My 6-year old was so excited he invented an "elephant elephant" card game and made me play twice. Not quite sure what the rules were, so I lost -- but the smile on his face was worth it. Thanks!

I had the strangest dream. I was in a garage with a bunch of beautiful freaks screaming MASSACHUSETTS AVENUE at the top of my lungs. Oh wait...

Besides the fact that Amanda Palmer and her many comrades are awesome people, Amanda Palmer is an amazing dancer.  She can definately bring it.  Thank you for allowing me this opportunity to dance, sing, and celebrate with you, it was nothing but a pleasure. :)

thank you to everyone who came out to the show. I'd like to especially thank all of you who helped us out in one way or another - whether it was helping us bring the merch inside out of the rain or helping each other get directions, it was absolutely amazing to see everything come together.

it was also an absolute pleasure to meet you guys - at all of the shows, you're incredibly sweet and it's so satisfying to read all of your after-show reports, we're glad that you had fun.

As far as the music goes, these songs are in their infant stages, we'll see what happens with them, how they sound, how they make you feel etc. Music is a personal thing - an artist, a song, an album etc. can have such a deep personal and emotional connection or association to each and every person out there, so of course new music isn't going to be listened to the same objective way as someone who has no previous experience to an Amanda Palmer song or concert. All I can say is that no matter what, it's pretty exciting to see what direction these songs go. Now, if only I could get them out of my head....

Here's a nice shot of the inside of the garage with Casey's drawings that I found when looking up  Sarah Borello, who is so fucking talented.  Got chills on some of her songs, including this one.
