Australian Brigade!
« on: November 11, 2007, 01:59:38 AM »

hello!

well there appears to be no other thread for the organising of australian brigades, so now there is one! :color:

anywho, any australians intrested in brigading, leave a reply, preferably with what state your in and if you will be at any of the melbourne shows! Also if anyone has any idea what they're doing when it comes to brigading, please mention that cause i have no idea what im doing!

anywho hopefully we can work out how the brigadings gunna work in melbourne, and work out the numbers of willing (or blackmailed) brigaders in the areas amanda's other shows will be! (also if you have non shadowboxer friends who wanna brigade mention that aswell so we know numbers, ect. yay!)

viva forever!

Lol, where did they swim in the fountain?  That would have been funny!

There was no brigade in Brissie last time, which was a bit disappointing.  A couple of the girls who got there early dressed up as mimes and what-not, but no-one else bothered.  We should so try and get a brissie brigade going this time!

I will do what I can to help out in Melbourne but I think I may be too pregnant to brigade this time around. If Amanda comes out in Jan/Feb then I won't have long to go and I am pretty sure none of my purdy clothes will fit!

Have a look in the touring thread - it would appear that you will be getting 3 shows at The Studio at the Opera house at the end of feb. (lucky bastards!)

Baby won't have been born yet (hopefully - I am hanging on until after the Melbourne show). Planes don't love women who are just about to have a baby - at least airlines don't anyway! >:(

it could be anything really! me and some friends have planned to basically dress up in costumes, roam around newtown all day, then mosey on down to the opera house and do something bizzare there until the show starts. anybody is welcome to join us in that!

I'm going on the Friday, but flying into Sydney on Jetstar with only carry-on baggage while jetlagged from getting back from the UK the day before doesn't really make brigading a realistic aim.  But I will look at you all and appreciate the awesomeness  :)

I'd love to Brigade! I live in Queensland, but regional Queensland. :( Depending on whether we have the money (at this point it looks like we won't :( :( ) we'll either go to the Melbourne show or the Brisbane show.

Well, I'd be interested in brigading in Brisbane, if the Brissie shows are even happening - they aren't up anywhere yet which is a little disconcerting when there are already tickets on sale for the Sydney shows.

It's annoying cause at the rate this is going by the time we find out if the Brisbane shows are going ahead the tickets for the Sydney shows will all be sold out.

I'm keen to do something but lets just say that I'm not the most outgoing, extraverted type person, I usually prefer to follow rather than lead - so if someone has a good idea I will help out with that.

I was thinking about doing some ReBELLYon stuff - I'll be taking my camera (I think we should be good to get it into the Tiv) and I was thinking of taking some textas etc and encouraging people in the line to write on their bellies then taking photos.  I'll also be telling everyone to make sure they flash their bellies around if and when Amanda plays Leeds United!

unless they are diehard fans, they may not have heard of reBELLYon, and youi'll have to do alot of explaining. i was concidering what someone else did at one of the U.S.A. shows, and that was going around asking and recording where people were when they found out amanda had been killed.

I'm in Melbourne and love the idea of brigading but don't really have any ideas. I don't suppose that's very helpful, I'll try to think of something!

I had a great idea, that I have no intention of pursuing. Positive graffiti! Basically just graffiti with positive messages. Like 'you are not alone' or 'you are not meaningless' etc.

Shadowbox newbie here and also a new-ish fan from Brisbane. I'd like to brigade! :D Not sure what I want to do yet, but my skills are mainly in drawing. I have an idea or two but I'm still thinking. I'd also love to join someone else in brigading, if anyone's interested. :)

I'm keen to do something but lets just say that I'm not the most outgoing, extraverted type person, I usually prefer to follow rather than lead - so if someone has a good idea I will help out with that.

I really like this idea! Regarding what Abby Rose said, I don't think explaining should be a huge problem. Someone could make little flyers about the ReBELLYon, photocopy them and hand them out in the line. Healthy body image is a good cause and it'll be really fun to do all the belly stuff Heartstringz suggested! :) I wouldn't mind making the flyers if I know for certain that we're going through with this.

Ooh! My friend and I are very excited to join the Melbourne Brigade!!!
Have to look at the busking license paraphernalia, but I will probably be getting that regardless...
...I digress- VERY EXCITING! I will have to discuss this further before saying 'what' we will do - but my name is here now ;)

Oh and are we doing any plastering of posters around the city? (Ala http://amandapalmer.net/tour)

As mentioned in the tour thread, my idea for reBELLYoz was to get 9 bellies to the venue REAL early and paint a letter of rebellyoz on each. And either flash it to her before the show or during it.

And paint the Z in a different colour, so she can see the difference.

:D

Is the rebellyoz still happening? Or any other Melbourne brigading plans?
We've got a week, there's still time if we're speedy! If nobody has any particular performance skills we could set up some sort of funeral or crime scene since it's relevant?

I was going to go to the Saturday show but my friend wouldn't let me. I'd already seen Amanda at the slumber party in melbourne, in two sydney shows and we were flying off to brisbane 6am the following morning. We ended up going to hobart as well in the end though! :D
