rarely go to concerts, unless i like the band/musician very much or if a friend is going& asks me to go& i like the band/musician enough (since most "concert" concerts are 1-2 hr drive from me).
my town does get some great traveling bands over& I go to local venues a lot though....so I guess I'll list concert propers that i've been to +whatever i consider to be semi-known/known around here.
the strokes+ muse -were in town, did a favor by buying ticket off friend's friend-- lacked wow factor, but i guess a hilariously stoned stroke lead singer& witnessing someone sneakily "slipping" off to lower level from the stadium w/out breaking his/her ankle and w/out being caught is worth it.
jason webley-- my fav of his was quite circus-y. involved a shovel, death mask, storybook, bottles w/ rocks, and a HUGE red tomato balloon into which a)his head first disappeared into and he proceeded to bob along-- think jack in the box on a much grander scale b)he completely disappeared in the balloon (yes, it's that big)
vermillion lies
luminesent orchestrii
the yeah yeah yeahs
dresden dolls
amanda palmer
the arcade fire
They shoot horses (don't they)-- on kill rock stars
Baby Gramps-- amazing well known folk musician...and I think Pirates of Carribean soundtrack has something from him
Sonic Youth (daydream nation tour)-- best. concert. ever. unfortunately crap venue&staff that made everyone stay in their seats(that's right, *everyone* had seated tickets)& cleared off the aisle by yelling several times during the concert when dragging people one by one didn't work out that well.
still awesome, but would have been s*** awesome if we could stay in the pit
