North Carolina Brigade??? *crosses fingers*
« on: November 27, 2007, 04:41:32 PM »

So, I definitely have my act, and I'm definitely listed for NC...

is anyone else going/planning on brigading?  If so, it'd be really swell to toss around ideas or just get an idea of whether or not there will be more than two performers this time!  :)

It's a good one, too.  Be sure to get pictures of it!

I know of one other person for sure (Blue Larkspur here on the forums had said she'd be there) and I have speculations that a few others might show up.
Right now I'm trying to recruit an extra person for my act, so if you know of anyone that's looking to get involved but has no idea where to start, send them my way!

By the way, I know Doug said he was going to be there, so there'll most likely be loads of wonderful pictures afterwards.

ashtyn, write up a recruitment bulletin and send it to the brigade myspace as a message.  I'll repost it there.

i will certainly send anyone i come across your way, but i cant think of anyone off the top of my head.
are you going to be mobile or stationary? because the carolina is such a great space, i just want to get a sense of where we will be setting up. like, are we inside or outside?

I'm hoping to perform inside, mainly due to the fact that my costume (or lack thereof) doesn't provide much covering or warmth...otherwise I'd rather be outside while people are waiting to get in.
Generally, though, I think we'll find out when we get there.  You might could talk to the venue ahead of time if you need to know, or maybe email Jen.

Well, my act is going to be a "man or memorex" theme.  The visual presentation needs two people: one to be covered in cables, vinyls, cassettes and the like, silver body paint etc, and kind of grabbing onto me, pulling me off of an amp or TV.  I'll be half painted and covered in all the electronic goodness.
I'm then handing out memorex cd's with people's humanity/secrets/art burned on them.  All the actual written art or messages are going to be put over an image that corresponds somehow.  Kind of post-secret (I wrote a thread about it under general discussion to get people to send me stuff).

The point is to illustrate the confines of technology on artists and humans in general, and question whether or not the medium affects the nature of the art...but visually.

This is really abstract, and a little artsy-fuck of me, but I thought it'd be neat to see and interactive for everyone there.  I'm hoping people will dig getting a little piece of art to take home and 'discover'.

There's a lot of different things you can do..  I run the NC brigade myspace, if you'd like I can brainstorm with you through that...or you could PM me, too, and I'd be glad to help you get a start!
