John Stewart (Green Lantern) and Shayera Hol (Hawk Girl) from the animated Justice League series. Now I love biracial couples but I really liked how the series built up their relationship. First, they get on each others nerves but as the show progressed, they begin to see the strong points they both have. This couple made me feel for an alien and a human. The writers did a good job.

I don't really know anyone else who ever really likes this film, so I doubt anyone loves this couple as much as me but I *adore* Ana Pascal and Harold Crick out of Stranger Than Fiction. When he brings her 'flours' and sings for her and she jumps him my heart literally does flips. Yes, I am that sad.

It looks like he's trying to pull the "you've got something on your face" trick when he kisses her.

I can't believe I didn't think of it before, but Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy! Also, Jane and Bingley are adorable.

Aww how could i forget the cutest couple of the whole universe? I love them so much, i love their strange ways of communicate with eachothers, i love their obsessions, i love the way they kiss.

And though it's an auto-biographic book, Patti & Robert are one of my favourite couples. Summer of 68, Woodstock, Beat generation, photography, Chealsea Hotel, poetry, art and music... Seriously how can anyone be cooler than them?

!!! Yes !!!

God, I fucking love that film - haven't seen it in ages, I need to sort that shizzle out.

My favourites from books are Catherine and Heathcliff, even though they're both bloody horrible to each other (actually, probably *because* they're so horrible xD), Polly and Tom from a book called "Fire And Hemlock" by Diana Wynne Jones, Shadow and Laura from "American Gods" (I know they're not really 'together' in the book so to speak, but it's a totally brilliant relationship anyway), and Jesse and Tulip from the Preacher comics.

Seamy's are Edward and Bella, and Mary and Joseph from the Bible. Or rather, "Jesus' ma and pa". I don't know whether to laugh or cry....

In other stuff, I think the Doctor and Rose, Dr Pomatter and Jenna from 'Waitress', Wash and Zoe, and Willow and Tara.

1) Ladyhawke pisses all over Princess Bride, Legend, and Labyrinth as far as I'm concerned. One of my all-time faves.

2) There's two couples I've been about to post here, only to stop myself from doing so. C & H are one, and Tristan & Isolde (the opera, not the movie) are the other.

and

YES. Why do *neither* of those women realise that the right man for them is there all along??

Because they're incredibly stupid, there is no excuse. Jess was more right for Rory than Dean ever was. Dean wasn't intelligent enough for Rory, he was also too jealous and lost his temper over the tiniest little things. I hated Dean. I think Jess treated her way better. Even though he was all for the monosyllabic conversations, he was intelligent and wellspoken. Also, I think Jess left Stars Hollow without saying goodbye, to avoid having to face Rory and tell her that they can't go to the prom because he failed at school, when Rory was the only person to believe in his abilities. And Logan was just a jerk, I liked him too, though, maybe because he saved Rory from another round of Dean, imo. He was just to much of a jerky rich boy. And then when Jess showed up with a book he had written, I kind of wished Rory would've dumped Logan for him...

And I realise I may sound like a lunatic, talking about fictional characters as if they're real.

^No, you're completely right. Dean was an idiot, way too dumb for Rory and he didn't seem able to have his own life - like everything just revolved around her, which isn't what someone as independent as Rory needs. Jess was perfect for her, even more so after he was in Philadelphia and seemed to be getting back on track with things. As for Spuffy, I mean, come the fuck on. That's just pure logic.

i cant stand when characters couple up.  it's a pain in the ass, and the plot suffers because we have to hear about everybody's FEELINGS.

^^Angel was too much of a lovesick puppy for Buffy, he didn't challenge her and was always way too protective, as if Buffy was a little girl who needed help. And then Riley, ugh, pure awful, hated him and his army guy attitude, he was way too show off-y and tried too hard. Spike was Spike. Perfect and everything.

Right with you on Riley - he was a total twat. Angel got better later on, but I think that was mainly because he was much more bearable in 'Angel' and so when he came back to visit they kept the character that way xD But he wasn't interesting enough, or exciting enough. Spike's a babe xD

I never watched Angel, well, I watched a few episodes, but it just wasn't as good as BtVS, so I only saw Angel when he came back for something or other, later on... I did like that the plots of Angel and Buffy were woven together, and whenever someone would leave to see Angel in LA or the other way around, you'd actually have to watch the other show to know what happened there. Like when Faith came back in season 7, I watched Angel, to see how she actually escaped from prison or something.

Ooooooh, also, back on topic: I like Luke & Lorelai together in Gilmore Girls, but I also like Lorelai & Christopher, I can NEVER decide which pairing is better...

But he knows Lorelai. Like *knows* knows. I did hate him for leaving Lorelai when he got the phonecall that sherry was back and pregnant.
Luke is perfect because he waited for yeaaaaaaars for Lorelai to settle down and notice him.

Ack, part of the joy of a relationship is *getting* to know somebody. And really, she's not all that mysterious xD Luke waited for her, and was the sweetest loveliest thing to her, and then you can't argue with a man who would work that hard to give Rory a graduation party, even though he wasn't bonking her mum at the time! Christopher might know Lorelai better, but he also treats her and Rory like ragdolls that he can pick up and drop whenever he chooses.

If you put it like that, Christopher sounds horrible xD
I like how Luke went all crazy when Rory decided to quit Yale, the moment was so typical of him.

i think i get really overly protective of male characters i like (it takes a LOT for me to like female characters) but for example whenever Lestat finds a new partner i always automatically HATE them until they can prove themselves worthy...same with tv shows and whatnot. is that weird?

No, that's good.

I look at male and female characters and when they get together, I have to see if the relationship will work. They need to be good for each other, not bad. they need to build each other up and help their partner with their problems.

I tend to look for some level of chemistry between the actors. Sandra Bullock and Bill Pullman were like whoa in While You Were Sleeping, whereas I never bought the pairing of Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss in the Matrix movies for a minute.

Not that the characters being good for each other isn't important. It is.

That is another important thing to look at. There are times where it feels like the romance is forced. While Your Were Sleeping was a good example. I love that movie.

Great topic! First some classics: Rick and Elsa in Casablanca, Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett in Pride and Prejudice, Damiel and Marion in Wings of Desire. As for TV, I'm Buffy/Spike all the way, Doctor and Tardis (just wish Dr. had been David Tennant), Sherlock & Watson in Moffat's new program. And I can't leave out these two:

Capt. Jack Harkness & Capt. John from Torchwood.

I want to see them both naked so, so much. Same for Captains Jack and John, actually. Isn't that the mark of a great fictional couple? xD

Just watched the last part of this the other night for the first time since it originally aired; isn't this what we all want?
