But he knows Lorelai. Like *knows* knows. I did hate him for leaving Lorelai when he got the phonecall that sherry was back and pregnant.
Luke is perfect because he waited for yeaaaaaaars for Lorelai to settle down and notice him.

Ack, part of the joy of a relationship is *getting* to know somebody. And really, she's not all that mysterious xD Luke waited for her, and was the sweetest loveliest thing to her, and then you can't argue with a man who would work that hard to give Rory a graduation party, even though he wasn't bonking her mum at the time! Christopher might know Lorelai better, but he also treats her and Rory like ragdolls that he can pick up and drop whenever he chooses.

If you put it like that, Christopher sounds horrible xD
I like how Luke went all crazy when Rory decided to quit Yale, the moment was so typical of him.

That's because Christopher *is* horrible ;) And yeah, Luke was adorable at that point :)

i think i get really overly protective of male characters i like (it takes a LOT for me to like female characters) but for example whenever Lestat finds a new partner i always automatically HATE them until they can prove themselves worthy...same with tv shows and whatnot. is that weird?

No, that's good.

I look at male and female characters and when they get together, I have to see if the relationship will work. They need to be good for each other, not bad. they need to build each other up and help their partner with their problems.

I tend to look for some level of chemistry between the actors. Sandra Bullock and Bill Pullman were like whoa in While You Were Sleeping, whereas I never bought the pairing of Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss in the Matrix movies for a minute.

Not that the characters being good for each other isn't important. It is.

That is another important thing to look at. There are times where it feels like the romance is forced. While Your Were Sleeping was a good example. I love that movie.

Great topic! First some classics: Rick and Elsa in Casablanca, Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett in Pride and Prejudice, Damiel and Marion in Wings of Desire. As for TV, I'm Buffy/Spike all the way, Doctor and Tardis (just wish Dr. had been David Tennant), Sherlock & Watson in Moffat's new program. And I can't leave out these two:

Capt. Jack Harkness & Capt. John from Torchwood.

I want to see them both naked so, so much. Same for Captains Jack and John, actually. Isn't that the mark of a great fictional couple? xD

Just watched the last part of this the other night for the first time since it originally aired; isn't this what we all want?

^Not canonically* linked romantically. Welcome to the world of the shipper, my friend ;)

Speaking of which, muthafuckin Destiel.
