Maybe I could become a Republican, or a Scientologist...

Is half a BILLION enough?

1stly -  LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
2ndly - not to be contrary but  's not really half a billion after taxes and all

@Topic I would put money aside for my niece & nephews. I would get a new home where I live now. Probably a 2nd home or condo somewhere away. I would go to Disney World... a lot. I would give some to siblings and parents. I imagine I would have to give lots to charity. Um, I have a friend or 2 I would possibly help pay off school loans (ok maybe just the 1 friend). Animals. I would buy all the land and save all the animals. Maybe in a no kill shelter sort of way or a sanctuary or idk what but: animals. Books too lots of them.

I'd have to set aside a trust to make certain nobody in my immediate family ever has to pay to go to school again. That won't take more than about $10,000,000 for seed money.

Oooh, good point... If you take the lump-sum up-front, after taxes,
it's likely to be only about, what, $170 mil?

The answer is simple. I would disappear. You would be able to find me sitting on a beach somewhere with a bottle of rum.

Fuck the bottle.
I'd buy a rum factory.

I'd go and live on it fairly modestly and use the time I have spare because I don't have to work to write and write and write.

I liked how the guy who bought one of the winning tickets lost his shit in a gas station when he finally checked his ticket and found out he'd won.    ;D

I was laughing at the Facebook hoax of the guy claiming he'd give a random $1 million if he got enough likes. His winning ticket was photoshopped.

Nobody hit Powerball last night, when the jackpot was $370 million. At 2 AM, this Saturday's jackpot was set at $450 million.

...12 hours later, this Saturday's jackpot is already up to $550 million. damn. At that rate, somewhere over $800 million by 11 PM Saturday's not out of the question.

Over $600 million, now.

Again, if I win, nobody in my immediate family will have to pay to go to school ever again. The caveat to that is, "Hey, rest of family, don't F%^*&%^ ask me for anything else. I'm not an ATM."

Dear Mr. Gaiman,
I know you care about a lot of meaningful issues, and you have a lot of money.
Would you mind telling me how you balance these two conditions so that the
second isn't erased by the first overnight?

Thanks for any advice.
Yours,
Cee

Seriously, I could give away a giant pile of money in no time at all, and I'd really
like to achieve some long-term good, rather than just band-aid some superficial
problems...

First of all, I'd get the rubber grippy things for the bathtub, so I don't slip and fall again, and then Shit Will Go Down.  It will be amazing. End of Dream.
