Absolutely fantastic. Pity the email came out while I was asleep and $500 is sold out but I'm sure the people at that level will have an excellent time. They'll see me and my wife behind them in the crowd, we'll be the ones green with envy. :-)

I'm very impressed with how the Kickstarter idea worked and how fast it sold. I wonder if other acts will follow your lead to get funding for projects and shows.

Yep, the poster will be of the silhouette artwork (by Cynthia von Buhler) signed by Amanda and Neil for that package.


It's in the center of the example picture of what the rewards will look like (they aren't printed yet, obviously as this kickstarter is up and running to fund the printing and such, but it'll give you a good idea):

Im not paying 35 dollars (shipping included) for the physical edition of this project.
I KNOW, no physical fireflies & ponies for me ...nobody needs to tell me.

I will support you with the digital release instead, it's just that I miss when mortals could afford your physical releases, what happened?

I think it's crazy that people are willing to pay 500 or even 2500 dollars for this, but if Amanda has fans that are obsessed enough to pay that kind of money, she'd be insane not to take advantage of it/them.

eh, i don't know. you're probably right... i mean, i think it's nuts that people will pay that much, but then again, maybe it's those people who think they're amanda's friends?
i just think that for so long amanda has given out the image of being people's bff (with her intimate blogs, chatting after every concert, staying at people's houses) and now she's starting to cash in...
i think that keeping your fanbase ''close'' to you is a supersmart business move, but,
there are still people who think of amanda as a saint just because she spends time signing stuff after show..
it's her JOB. fuck ''punk cabaret is freedom''...it's $$$ too.

Astonishingly, over $100,000 has now been pledged to the Kickstarter project, and we talked about what that lets us do for the CD package, for the "surprise" thank you gifts (we decided what they are going to be today - something special that Amanda had wanted to do for Who Killed Amanda Palmer, but which she couldn't afford), how we're going to keep people informed of what's happening and what we're doing and making with that.

I really like pre-selling things as a way of bringing them into the world - it means we're making enough for the people who want them, we can afford to make them as well as we want, and it means that people are getting something real. We aren't worrying about marketing costs. We don't have to get a record label, and then try and persuade them to make the thing we want. We just do it.
