Board activity...
« on: October 03, 2011, 01:32:34 PM »

I came to see if there were any responses to my response I posted yesterday.  None.  I looked at the threads beneath it, and it seems alot less board activity than I remember when I use to visit more frequently.  Any ideas on why?  Maybe because Amanada is over seas more often now?

imho, there is less discussion about amanda and brian than there use to be.

this may be related to the fact that they are touring less than during the d.dolls days

+/or to the fact that discussion occurs elsewhere,
a's blog and tweeter,
as well as the forest of facebook pages

other thoughts?

please let other fans know how awesome the sbox is,
and suggest they give hanging out here a try!

Good points about the blog and twitter, never thought of that.  I don't get into all that stuff.  Facebook is fine,  I can only stand be plugged in so much.  There is still a physical world out there.  :)

or to the fact that discussion occurs elsewhere

Bingo.

All message boards took a huge hit due to Facebook. Which is a good and bad thing

-Good = More exposure, everyone's already on Facebook so it's convenient. You don't need to go out of your way to find Amanda news, just hit "like" on her page and boom, you're updated everyday on a website you already visit everday.

-Bad = Quality of discussion takes a HUGE hit. Instead of in-depth, interesting posts on here, you read really short, generic comments on Facebook most of the time. Plus, people tend not to be as honest/open when their first and last name is attached to everything...

Overall, it's way more good for the artist, not even a question. But I do miss the active communities of die-hard fans.

good points

this forum remains a community of die-hard fans.
though it has fewer active members than it use to.

this decrease in members,
the fact that fans discuss stuff on the too many facebook pages,
several twitter pages, a's blog and elsewhere
BUT
the hard fannish discussion gets more intense
(here and elsewhere)
when this forum's heros tour (solo! or TOGETHER ! ! !),
and much more intense when they release new work

they use to tour together all the time, and release work
more often then they do now, so the fannish discussion
was more regular
