So stilts...
« on: January 04, 2008, 10:23:43 PM »

I'm working out a secondary or possibly tertiary costume/persona (yes with the jester hat, some things must remain!) and am toying with the idea of stilts.  Saw Drywall stilts used to great effect last year at LARP I attended, also I really liked that way they clacked as the people using them moved.  Was very dramatic and the bottoms are easily mocked up as shoes from when I talked to them.

Anyone have any experience personally with these, or have recommendations before I start searching heavily?

Paco's a jerk.

I don't use drywall stilts because they were too expensive to buy when I got started.  I googled 'making stilts' and found a good site.  The thing that I like about peg stilts is that you can be more nimble.  With drywalls your just kind of stomping around.  I gotta get me some jumping stilts... yes i have.

Of all the stories / fables  / folklore / half-truths of the occult and the paranormal I have read or heard, for some unfathomable reason the one of Spring Heeled Jack petrifies me. It probably was just a Paco-man having fun, but I still convince myself at night something is going to come bounding over the hedgerows in front of me. That would be my worst nightmare. Something running alongside my car, keeping up the same speed. Looking in. Grinning. eeek. Don't ask why I derailed this way. Raliel started it.

spring heeled jack is one of those modern myths that has always fascinated me..... the fact that there was a serious hunt for him by the police after several terrifying eyewitness accounts in the 19th century makes him even more fascinating
