History repeats itself. Does this remind you of another country that fell into zealots' trap while trying to get rid of a tyrant?
why oh why does it always happen?
I guess it's because there are some external manipulations in such cases.
I remember Saddam offered Opec countries to demand gold againist oil, just like what Gaddafi did. And though Gaddafi has been cruel to the opponent groups, he also used to be very though in foreign relations and he managed to govern his economy with zero external debts. Being so stubborn about his demands in export-import and foreign policies, he needed to get knocked down.
Sharia causes lots and lots of internal problems, look at Iran, they hardly can find time to carry on healthy external relation policies. Democracy is harder to manipulate, therefore i guess some oil importing countries exhorted Jelil to declare Sharia instead of democracy.
Don't get me wrong, i don't and will never like Gaddafi. But i think it's mostly about give & take.
