Is "Statue-ing" a Verb?
« on: December 14, 2011, 03:17:02 PM »

Anyway, hi.

One of my favorite things about Amanda is that she used to busk as a human statue for tips in Harvard Square. I actually remember seeing her back then, visiting in Boston around that time. I have been obsessed with Human Statues since I saw them in Covent Garden in London when I was 17.

I figured this might be relevant to some of your interests, particularly any of you who live in smaller towns. A group of people that I work with regularly on a local arts and culture publication put together a grass-roots effort to get an ordinance ALLOWING busking onto the books in our city, and they did it.

Well, I waited forever for someone to start doing the statue thing, but no one has. It's been all banjos and hand drums and french horn players and NO STATUES.

So, I did it. This is me:

And I wrote a story about it for the publication and it's here:

http://www.altdaily.com/features/the-things-people-tell-you-when-they-think-youre-not-real-a-statue-in-norfolk.html

And I hope you like it. And if you do, some encouragement, even far-flung and non-monetary, is lovely to get.

I sent Amanda a note about it too... I hope it gets a smile and a "Fuck yea!" out of her.

Love!

@OurLadyofVariousSorrows GORGEOUS!  :o

And the story behind the character is absolutely stunning.

Wow, i mean, one of the most beautiful human statues i have ever seen, the eyes, the daggered heart, the make up, the costume, all of them are perfect  O0

I mean, we're losers with bandwidth. #LOFNOTC

facebook is like the worst book I've ever read. the characters do not evolve one bit and the plot is going nowhere.
