doesnt know that a secret cult dedicated to preserving the remains of benjamin franklin will soon invade his house, looking for a peice of the octavium crystal which could actually bring benjamin back to life. mistaking them for common theives, he will fight then off, inadvertadly activating his hidden power of pyrokinisis! with his house burnt down, and the BJ cultists after him, he will go on around the world adventure, with many entertaining misadventures along the way!

In part, I blame being inept at logic

why when you deal with the language of equation and formulae?

part of the beauty of these fields are that the basics are so simple,
and so elegantly combinable to make such awesome constructs

but most of the teachers don't understand this themselves

I take a good chunk of the blame. It isn't all teachers.
