So let's say someone was bored over the weekend and started playing around with the youtube and flickr apis....and as they they were playing around with them they just happened to be listening to amanda palmer, and so used that as a search term in the api queries. Then they realized they had essentially created youtube and flickr clients for Amanda on Android, and thought "fuck it, why stop now?" so they went ahead and added an RSS reader for the wordpress news, the tumblr blog, and the gigpress plugin. Then they embedded a webkit browser with links to twitter, the shadowbox, myspace, etc. Then they made a little sqlite database of albums songs, with the ability to stream amanda's discography from a dropbox account.

Do you think they should continue? You know, style it up a bit, work on some performance enhancements (since they only started on saturday afternoon it was a bit of a rush job). And if they did finish it, would it need to be "approved", or should they just upload it to their Android Market account as a free app?

I suspect Amanda would be flattered,
but as she and her team use Apple hardware,
might not even give it a real spin.

Such an app would improve and evolve with input from other fans.

And the prespective of
Sean, Hayley, and other members of Team Amanda
would be valuable input.

But,
bottom line:

put it out there,
AND
check the code in at SourceForge or the public
shared development websight of your choice.

Simon…first let me say, from all of us at Team AFP: Thank you for your ambition and support. One of my favorite things about the fan base that Amanda and The Dolls have brought together, is that there are awesome people like yourself who strive to make the community a more welcoming and immersive environment.

That said, we need to make sure that things like this aren't going out into the public, at this time. We're all hard at work on Amanda's new album and are currently speaking with some development/design companies to take the site(s) and mobile-world to the next level. This includes a few massive overhauls to the current infrastructure, as well as some new technologies and mobile applications that are - fingers crossed - going to blow you all away. Furthermore, we need to make sure that we're careful with how things - and what things - come out with Amanda's branding or (past/present/future) assets.

I'll email you to discuss this in private, but I just wanted to make a note here on The Box as to where things are and how things such as this will have to be handled moving forward into the future. But again, thank you, really.
