The Catullus Thread
« on: April 17, 2008, 11:20:20 AM »

I define myself as a hopeless romantic, and I figured that there might be a good number of similar sob stories on this thread...

I'm in love with my best friend and don't know how to tell him...

Welllll the story goes like this. In grade ten, there was this kid (will not mention his name) in grade nine that I thought was cute. He was "straight" at the time. We talked a lot, he knew I was gay and whatever. I would flirt with him but not make it so obvious (not touch him). Well this school year, I learned (after the whole situation I'm about to get into) that he was in the closet and was secretly going out with another guy. I did not know at the time that he was in the closet, I thought he was out. So I asked him if it was true. Somehow that got around and everyone thought I spread the rumour (my friend told me because he witnessed it). Now he pretends I don't exist. He never talks to me when there are people around. He just walks passed me and not even a smile. But when no one's around he'll say hi to me and we'll talk for a bit. (So that was confusing. Let me explain in shorter detail. A friend told me that he and this guy were holding hands. I thought he was already out so I asked. Turns out he wasn't out and everthing went down the drain).

On the olde box there was member called SparkleAmerican whom I loved so dearly just because he was the boy next door but not so innocent. And that goes into a really long depressing story so I will not tell it. But the fact that he's no longer on the board (Or he is but he hasn't mentioned himself as SparkleAmerican).

There was this other guy at my school and he was an ex-drug addict. He was 19 and I believe he's at nightschool because at age 20 they kick you out of school and you're forced to take night school. Anyway, his background story is is that he dropped out at 15, for 2 years he was a drug dealer, decided that that wouldn't take him anywhere so he came back to highschool. He enrolled into the visual arts programme and that was that. But there were days where he didn't show up at school then 4 days later he'd come back all fatigued and fragile. But he was my Zombie Kidd. Just because he looked dead most of the time. But I saw him this school year on the first day back to school and he looked nice and alive. He's going somewhere.

^ aw, who is it?

I also am in - some sort of - love with 2 shadowboxers. Along with the fact this some random guy added me on msn a few weeks ago and we talked for quite a bit. He said some nice things about me, my friends Amy, Sara and Amelia have seen him before at work but don't truly remember him. Anyway. I just wished that he was real.

I LOVED SPARKLEAMERICAN! Well, not in the way YOU did, but he was still totally awesome.

This potential paramour of mine is a sneaky one. To this day, I cannot honestly tell whether or not he's gay/bisexual. I started to make my move by making him one of the first people I ever told that I was bisexual... In fact, the first person I ever told personally. Every day at school (thank God we have a class together... and lunch) I timidly make the slightest advances and try to find some harmless and light way of asking him "Hey, are you gay?" and pray that he wouldn't care if I were to ask. Any time I ever ask him a question, he always responds with his attractively cryptic way of speaking that mesmerizes me and has convinced me to try and take two classes I might not be able to succeed in. He gets near me a lot (but he's done that to EVERYBODY at least once). The moment when I decided that had to have this Lesbia, my Lesbia, was when I was showing to him some of my piano work (I played Baobabs by Regina Spektor) in the band room. I felt at ease, but the bell rang soon after. However, right before the bell rang, my friend Morgan (see a reference to her in This Random Thought) approached me and asked if we were dating; I said "No, but I sure as hell wish we were".

At present, I'm just awaiting the opportunity to see him again. If I cannot have him, then I suppose poor Catullus will be left to sing his swanly elegies.

He told me to join the box and he NEVER talked to me after that. What the hell?! I rarely even posted on the olde box. I mean there was the awkward hi and hello in some thread but that was about it.  Erm. I have so many stories.

Here's one. There's this guy (who's name is unbelievably sexy) and there's so many clues to say that he's gay. We had a math class together and an english class. On my spare's sometimes I'd join his vocal class and he said I had a nice voice. But now it's semester 2 and we've gone our seperate ways. But the guy has A.D.H.D. and sometimes it's like "Whoa, lay off the caffeine, dude." When in math class we sat one desk away from each other. I'd always catch him looking over his shoulder to look at me. I'd catch him then he'd quickly look at his shoulder and brush off some imaginary dust. I sat at a desk where I was surrouned by my friends so most of the time we'd just talk and sometimes he'd join in and we didn't mind. He told me I had really nice writing. That was just strange. Then he admitted to looking over and looking at me. "Whenever I look over and look at you I see your writing, and it looks really nice." "Oh thanks!" Then the convorsation somehow ended up in singing and he says "Have you heard him sing before? This guy sings opera! And it's really cool that you can do that." Speaking to me and other people. When Steve told him that our friend Courtney thought he was cute he didn't care, but when I asked if it was "Courtney, the short black guy or the tall black guy?" and Steve replied "The tall black guy with the lip piercing." he immediately became interested and wanted to know who this Courtney person was. But I heard he was a big egomaniac. But god he's so fine.

I fall in Lust with a boy in my biology Class, sortof acquaintances, same general likes, etc. and had insanely awesome arguments about random shit, but not really CLOSE. I decided to give him a rose for valentines day, but seeing as we have no classes with each other and I have no legitimate excuse to talk to him, it makes things hard. Oh Well. Ce La Vie.

Fuck this, I want a boyfriend.

Once I posted an "Internet Boyfriend" bulletin on myspace and someone answered it and we were internet boyfriends for a few weeks. Then I "dated" this zit-infested midget. Ughhhhhhh. Now I'm falling for every guy I see hoping they'd be nice enough to love someone like me.

Hello, I love you, won't you tell me your name?

haha strangers are ussually the only ones i stare at.. well not in a creepy way, but that probably sounds way creepy anyway lol. I ussually cant find people i'm good friends with attractive, im just into to strangers and people i hate! :P

as for the falling for the best friend thing, not really true in my case. theres only one friend i've ever found physically attractive... well been attracted to, plently of my firends are attractive people, im just not attracted to them for some reason. there was one person i had kind of confusing feelings about, cause kind of got the symptoms of a crush around him, but theres not actual attraction or wanting to be with him, so thats just kind of weird

I'm still in love with my ex-boyfriend, even though it's been almost 7 months since we broke up.. we never had a fight, or we never had problems. But one day he just told me that his feelings were gone..
I still dream about him every single night.

A bit of an aside, but I have asked about this before, only to get answers from the straight crowd. How do you feel about the mutual attention and distraction ratios of the act we call 69?

I fall for the creepy serial killer looking guys. Recovering alcoholics and drug addicts. Or the ones that aren't recovering at all.

Intriguing...

I'm a genetic alcoholic 'cos my dad was a raging drunk 'til he went to AA.

Oh, my sweet Manchurian Clodia, why can you not be mine in all your nerdy splendor?

(This is, of course, reverting to my aforementioned semi-boytoy.

No no. I should've clarified myself. I usually fall for creepy, serial killer looking men. Therefore, not all the time. Other times I fall for the pretty boys, or the ones so out of reach. Or the ones that no one really notice.

I fall in love with like every person who notices me. It would be poetic if it weren't so pathetic.

I lost my virginity to my (former) best friend's older brother.
That was about a year ago.
It was all about the sex for him.
He's five years older than me.
I don't love him.
But I can't give him up either.
Even though he makes me feel like shit.
And the last time we had sex I was up all the next night vomiting.

I'm also dating a guy who is two years younger than me.
I had sex with him because I was lonely
And I like being wanted.
I'm going to break up with him as soon as I get home
(I'm living with my dad for another week now)
At least I say I will.
I'm very bad at doing the things I say I'm going to do.
I'm very good at inertia.

I've never been in love.
But I become infatuated very easily
With anyone who seems to understand...
Something.
Something I don't even understand myself.

Wow, that was angsty.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - no matter how great the temptation, discount sex-oysters should always be avoided. Seriously though, what was he doing to you?! XD

Yeah, I really wish I could laugh about that.  According to my psychology teacher we have a smaller second brain controlling our digestive system which also reacts to intense emotions.

The only article I could find backing this up is apparently directed towards five-year-olds, but here it is: http://whyfiles.org/026fear/physio1.html

That's okay.  I'm probably overly sensitive.    O0

Have I ever talked about the 2 "straight" guys in my school that I really really like but then there's so many hints to say that they're not straight? Well. We'll call one D and the other one S.

D gives me strange, creepy looks in the hall almost everytime we see each other. Not a smile or a "hi" just a strange and intense stare. Not only will he give me intense, strange stares (that I find comforting btw), he will actually follow me - with his eyes, not physically. Once he walked into the bathroom and I just so happened to be in there washing my hands, and he came in washed his hands and then dried his hands, but because he took too long at the blow dryer thing-a-majig, I had to wipe my hands on my pants and walk out. And as I wiped he just kept looking at me then looking back at his hands then looking at me some more.....Then he followed me out of the bathroom (and by that I mean with his eyes, NOT physically....) And he shaves his legs.

S has a small body but a big-ass head. So he's like a bobblehead. He's lovely and I've loved him since the ninth grade although he's a year older than I. His ex-girlfriend's a friend of mine. So anyway, the guy is very very non-straight. Oout of all his friends he's has the most feminine voice out of all of them. On a level I hate him a lot. I've heard a lot of nasty stories about him. By that I mean anti-social, gives people cut eye, is very cocky. But just like D is gives me strange eyes. There was rumour that S came out of the closet. I got some friends to do something really stupid so because of that he gives all of them cut eye, I don't think he knows it was me who put them up to it. But he's gotten really suspicious of me so I try my best not to look at him. But yearbooks are coming soon sooooo I can look at him all I want. Hehehe.

Why can't these fuckers just come out of the closet already so we can get it on!?
