hi everyone. i didn't find a thread on this so.
regina is releasing a new album! it's called "What We Saw From The Cheap Seats" and was recorded over the summer (and not mentioned at ALL...) but has recently been announced with a May 12, 2012 release date.
and her new single was released today! (click the artwork:)

fans who have listened to her unreleased songs may recognize this. it appeared for the first time in 2005 and disappeared right after, but thanks to tapers, regina stumbled upon a recording of it online last summer after having forgotten that it existed. and now it's the first single on her album.

there is speculation that, and the title possibly references this, the album may be a collection of old songs that have only existed as live recordings from the early 2000's. in addition to 'all the rowboats,' in the past year regina has also revived oh marcello (not performed since 2002, recordings only surfacing in 2009), small town moon (this didn't exactly die, but disappeared right before her last album in '09), ain't no cover, and pound of flesh (both released on a live ep, but the latter hasn't been around since '06). she also has three new songs she's debuted after Far which are expected on the album: ink stains, ballad of a politician, and firewood.
and to celebrate record store day this year, which regina always does, she's releasing a limited edition vinyl featuring two russian cover songs: the prayer of francois violin, and old jacket.
regina's touring this summer as an opener for tom petty.
aaaand i think that's all. discuss!
