Garfield Minus Garfield

This is prolly old news but I enjoy it:

Who would have guessed that when you remove Garfield from the Garfield comic strips, the result is an even better comic about schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and the empty desperation of modern life? Friends, meet Jon Arbuckle. Let’s laugh and learn with him on a journey deep into the tortured mind of an isolated young everyman as he fights a losing battle against loneliness in a quiet American suburb.

It's funny how different the strip is without some lovable pets. Imagine Charlie Brown without Snoopy, not a good scene.

and the absence of a pet without the ability to understand or communicate with a human should really make little difference.

heh, need moar Garfield without Garfield! The content somehow becomes quite tragicomic, where the focus shifts from quasi-funny interaction between John the loser and his household pets to a schizophren, maniacally depressed John the loser who interact with people most likely only he can see and hear.

o_o'

not as funny as having Garfield actually there, and just not saying anything. then it looks like a crazy man talking to his cat, instead of just half of my online friends.
