London can finally celebrate the ousting of Ken Livingstone!

In his eight year tenure as Mayor of London he has bought this city to its knees. He has given us a totally ineffectual congestion charge that is purely a revenue issue & has fuck all to do with traffic congestion in London. The money was supposed to be pumped into the public transport system. Yet fares have rocketed with little improvement. The tube system is a joke. Outdated & crumbling it needs heavy investment.
 Then he brings us the fucking olympics! Just about the last thing we need. London is allready the most expensive city to live in & now our council tax bills will be even higher as the projected cost of the games spirals out of control, just look at the fiasco of Wembly Stadium!
 Ok Boris Johnson is shall we say "a character" but anything is better than Ken! Thank you to all that voted against Ken.

So fuck off Ken, good riddance to a bad mayor.

Personally, I'm considering a move to Brighton following the mayoral election result.

London has essentially elected George W Bush.

I find neither idiot amusing. I am in fact quite appalled.. beyond simply embarrassed, beyond simply annoyed.. by this result. London has officially lost its right to take the piss out of Americans for electing a moron.

You realize this means Boris will be in charge of the run up to the Olympics?

The olympics is already a disaster, look at where they are hosting it. What moronic fuckwit thought the Hackney/Stratford border was ideal? I was born in Hackney, its a shithole. The only Londoners in training for the olympics are the muggers. They will have a field day!
 Of course Boris is far from ideal, he is more interested in celebrity than politics & has offended half the world, the other half im sure he will get round to. But I have seen 8 years of Livingstone bring this city to its knees. We can only vote for who is put infront of us & I would rather vote for the devil himself than see Ken back in office.
 You may well move to Brighton but as long as we have this govt. in charge you will never escape the downward spiral that this country is in the grip of.

I am told that it's something of a joke in the UK that the US has two political parties:
-the Republicans, who are similar to the British Conservative Party,
-and the Democrats, who are similar to the British Conservative Party.

I don't know if this is true, but I noticed an odd thing.  Despite a "close relationship"
that seems occasionally to border on Henchman status, since the departure of dear
old Mrs. Thatcher, we seem to have Republican (our more shitbrained "Conservative"
party) governments when you have a Liberal government in the UK; now that we seem
on the verge of trading eight years of George W. and his thugs for the more subtle
criminal stylings of the Democratic (more "liberal") party, the Cons are making gains.

Democracy is ruled by the media & the allmighty dollar.

Doesn't matter what you have to say or how relevant it is, unless you have huge financial backing & access to the media you will get absolutly nowhere.
